The Nest Market | Café — Restaurant in Kiawah Island

Food and meals made in store has improved since last year, yet still wouldn’t call it great.

Employees are either indifferent or just plain rude. One was absolutely disgusting to my husband that only recently finished chemo. He struggles with his voice and hearing; she yelled at him when he kindly asked her twice to repeat herself. She was mumbling and not looking at him. It is obvious he is disabled. Don’t want to go into the other details of her behavior, but it really takes effort to be that nasty.

We’ve used this place for years because of the convenience and the smoothies but I’ve had it with all of the employees. Their rudeness or pretending you don’t exist I would expect in a Walmart employee, not somewhere we’re spending over $100 for lunch.

I normally don’t write bad reviews but it’s clear this place does not have great management. I have never seen a single smile on any workers faces and we’re not Karens. We always try to be polite and treat others with kindness.

I was told that the Nest was going to have everything the East Beach Town Market had. It’s hard to describe what a disappointment the menu is for us. The pizza has been replaced with a store deli cook your own pizza that isn’t very good and can be bought at Harris Teeter for a lot less. The wraps are gone. There is no sweet tea that doesn’t come in bottles We have been to Kiawah twice now since the Market was torn down and the Nest isn’t very crowded even though the dining area is smaller. This was at a time when every eating place is Freshfields was crowded. Even the 15% discount offered with your resort key cannot make up for the small menu with really high prices. We have been coming to Kiawah for over 25 years now. We got food from the Town Market every trip. Hoping they will bring back some of the favorites from the...

Update: We miss the old Town Market and the staff. We were excited for an updated space but they got rid of the best parts of the Market! Higher prices for food that is not as good, no pizza, lots of menu items gone or made differently. The staff we’re always so welcoming and friendly but now it’s a completely different atmosphere. Bummer because the location is so convenient and the space is nice but we’ll be heading to Freshfields and cooking more now.
