Stone Tree Golf Course in Killeen offers golf enthusiasts a wonderful escape amidst nature. The course layout, although not the most challenging for professional golfers, is beautifully designed to cater to both novice and intermediate players. The fairways are well-maintained, and the greens, while sometimes tricky, roll true.
One of the standout features of Stone Tree is its scenic beauty. Set against a Texas backdrop, the course provides picturesque views, making it a serene environment to play in. As you progress through the holes, you'll notice the thoughtful integration of natural obstacles and water features, which not only add to the visual appeal but also introduce strategic elements to the game.
The staff at Stone Tree deserves a special mention. They are friendly, accommodating, and ensure that players have everything they need for a pleasant round. The clubhouse, though modest, offers basic amenities, and the food and drinks are reasonably priced.
However, it would be great to see some improvements in certain areas. Some tee boxes could benefit from a bit more maintenance, and better signage throughout the course would be beneficial, especially for first-time visitors.
Overall, Stone Tree Golf Course provides a delightful golfing experience at a reasonable price. Whether you're a local or just passing through Killeen, it's worth teeing up here for a relaxing day...
Read moreI would love to give it more stars because I really enjoy fishing here after 7pm. I always make sure to practice golf etiquette even though I'm not golfing but had a golfer be extremely rude to me and my 7 year old daughter for no reason. Recently came to fish and found a no fishing sign posted that has never been there. Why fill the pond with fish then? And maybe enforce a code of conduct since golfers are being rude to 7 year old little girls.
Edit - had yet another golfer go out of his way to circle back to me and my daughter, standing nowhere near the fairway, just to curse at us for fishing on a city owned golf course. Please tell your golfers to stop cursing in front of little girls and have some respect. We were in no way impeding his nor any other golfers game but he felt the need to back track to use inappropriate language in front of children. Is this the type of behavior stone tree encourages? Funny how stonetree won't respond to this review but have others after this posted
Edit AGAIN on 7/7/2024 an employee stopped just to yell and to curse at me multiple times for no reason at all then sped off in his white dually truck. THIS GOLF COURSE NEED TO REACH OUT TO ME I NEED TO KNOW WHY THEY ALLOW THEIR EMPLOYEES TO SPEAK THIS WAY TO PEOPLE AND WHY THIS EMPLOYEE THINKS ITS OK TO SPEAK TO...
Read moreStonetree has a nice layout, lots of water and two distinctively different front and back nines. Today was the first time I’ve played here in several months, and I was very disappointed. The greens, which were in remarkable condition in early March, were simply horrible, with large areas of dead or no grass present on most greens on the front side. The back nine were somewhat better, but considering putting is half the game, this was just awful. Tee boxes were also in poor condition, and the bunkers were lacking one key ingredient, sand. Weeds were present in several bunkers and in some cases, there were small rocks in the bunkers. I was shocked at how the course had deteriorated in just a few months. I truly hope the greens keeper here gets his act together, but for now, I’m taking my business elsewhere. UPDATE: I played this again. When you see a sign on the clubhouse door that says “ All bunkers are to be considered ground under repair, you know it’s going to be a bad day on the course. I would be embarrassed if I was the greens keeper for this course....
