Love's Fish Box — Restaurant in Kings Mountain

Pros: Food is pretty good (if you are an old school fish camp fan, i,e Long Creek, Fox's, Riverview Inn, Kelly's etc...dont expect that kind of good) Food comes out piping hot and fresh, without a long wait. Staff at the counter where you order was friendly and anxious to take care of you. Really no interaction with any of the other staff as it is basically self service. They give you a ticket number and your cups. You fill your own cup, and wait to hear your order # called over the speakers, and you go pick up your "to go" boxes, and dine in. If you need a refill, you get that yourself also.

Cons: Self Service much like a buffet, although there is no buffet, and you have to refill your own drinks. Drink station (Tea area) was kind of unorganized and dirty, and people think it's funny to switch the caps on the tea, so you think you have re-filled with sweet tea, only to take a drink of unsweetened. The tea sits in gallon jugs. Soda is dispensed by a carbonated machine. Tables were clean, however, the railings of the top of the chairs were greasy where people handle them when pushing back under table, or just getting up in general. Ketchup bottle: greasy! Paper towel holder: greasy!! The bathrooms seemed to not have been attended to, as it was filthy, with the trash can overflowing, and no papertowels to dry your hands, or hand sanitizer. Maybe these issues is due to all the staff they have either takes orders and money, or cooks? Not sure. My son ordered a small flounder plate, and I a large flounder plate, with S&P. They were filled with the exact same amount of fish. Only difference, mine was a few dollars more???

I would have given 4 stars, but, too many cons to justify that. Would we go back? Possibly so...the food was pretty good. Would I recommend? Yes, but, I would advise the same as the review states. Hopefully, if there is in fact a next time, these cons will have been addressed...

I went to loves two weeks ago. I ordered the calabash shrimp perch and chicken plate.Me and a friend shared the plate and I still had leftovers for home. I love loves fish box in kingsmountain. I think this is the best fish place in cleveland county! The quality is great. The quantity is awesome. You get your money worth. And God forbid they have freakin sundrop!!! Yes I love this place and it is so delicious!!!! I would like to see waitresses because I feel that would make it better for customers and so they can get tips!you do self serve your own drinks etc but I noticed the older people like senior citizens may need assistance or others that need need help on fixing their condiments. But that's no complaint. Just a suggestion! Anyway I love the perch fish and salt and pepper catfish. My favorite is the calabash chicken and shrimp and perch! The fries are amazing and my hushpuppies were amazing and hot fresh!!!!! To start we have eaten here since it was ran by Olen and Mary.Take out only. Both my boys worked there under their son's. I knew we had a problem when the girl answered phone and was rude. When I arrived there were a dozen people waiting on food. One gentleman was at counter with numerous complaints about his food including missing items. Oneans was missing all together another had wrong food. 3 people who had gotten their order to go came back inside with food cause things were wrong. The blonde with pink hair was major issue with whole situation. She had taken my call in order cause I recognized her voice. She argued with gentleman that she didn't hear him order his food broiled that's why his was wrong. They proceeded to call out names on orders that were ready and blonde had them form a line to pay. Was another 5 minutes or more before she cashed them out. Their food had to be cold by the time they finally got it. She was only one running counter because other girl was looking for tickets on wrong orders and missing food items. Where's the manager? By far the worse cluster I have ever seen. I was ready to say pull my ticket and forget it when they called my name. Another girl was checking people out by now. The 8-10 people waiting to order should have ran when they had the chance.
