El Patron Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Kingsport

It once was the best Mexican food around, under the old name, old menu, old better way. It's certainly gone to the wayside since the change of hands and the new cheap out way of doing business. The chicken doesn't feel like really chicken nor looks like it. It is a yellowish color that I can't quiet tell what exactly is going on there. They took away the good, hot and flavorful salsa that I used to love and adore. Now, all a person gets is sauce that's bland and is similar to cheap spaghetti sauce. This has been the worst experience ever and I believe I'm done. They had salted my food so much, it nearly scalded my tongue. My gosh, also, we barely got any chips to begin with either. The cheese dip was barely warm. The new dining seats are the only reason why I gave a two and not a one. I'm so disappointed in everything there. I'm sad that it used to be the best Mexican around, very authentic and real. Now, I can't even stand thinking it'll last much longer. So so sad. The pineapples I picked out of my food were soggy with salt weighing them down. I nearly spit those out. I moved them to the side and tried to eat the rest of it. The mushrooms were burnt and salty to the point I nearly gagged. The rice did seem sorta okay, but dried and hard. Please so we can all have some decent meals in this city, do not...

I eat at this place often and I cannot say enough about the people that work there. When I first started going there Mango was running it (may he rest in peace). Just a fantastic guy and I will always be a customer because of him. I've never been treated as kindly by an owner of a business and was deeply saddened by his passing. The food is fantastic! In all the years that I have been going there I can't think of a single time that I have had any problems with my dinner. It is always quick and fresh. They all remember my exact order anytime I come by, which I find to be extraordinary. I just hate when I go there at certain times to see only a couple of people there eating even though they are packed at other times during the evening. They deserve as much business as any establishment that I can think of. I think people that aren't familiar with this place are really missing out. Great food, top of the line workers, a clean experience(I believe their health inspection was in the high 90s.), and just a wonderful dining experience. I love the food, the prices, and I never have a problem when Andy's working. However when it's not it seems like they can't understand what I'm saying when it's simple numbers like two. Yo hablas espanol muy poquito.I still understand numbers in Espanol just saying. I can even ask to go to the bathroom and I do not know Spanish. Looks like the person working the phone would understand at least numbers. I'm sorry I'm not talking bad about the person that was working they're a very nice person. Three times I've ordered from there though, and because of this problem our order has been messed up every time. I made it so plain to last night that I did not want red sauce on any of our food whatsoever and ask multiple times do you understand what I mean.
