For the cheese fans!
Raffaele's is a Kingsport classic. While I have not yet tried all of the pizza places in the area, I have had most of them, and Raffaele's consistently leads the pack for pizza. Quality cheese and thin but chewy crust with crisp edges, and at a decent price of $17 for a specialty pizza or $11+1.50/topping to boot! Their strombolis and calzones are generously proportioned and fairly priced - the super stromboli specifically is easily my favorite entree item at Raffaele's.
Their pasta dishes are flavorful and have generous helpings of cheese, and the tomato sauce is a little on the sweet side. I particularly enjoy their cannelloni and their "pasta alla Raffaele's". The garlic bread sticks with cheese are delightful, as well as their mozzarella cheese sticks. But save room for dessert!
Their cannolis are on the long side but still filled enough, unlike mamy cannolis I have had in the area. Their tiramisa is light and fluffy and pairs deliciously with their cappuccino and espresso after a meal. I highly recommend the cannoli with a cappuccino in particular.
My one complaint is that the garlic bread with cheese (not to be confused with the sticks) was just the hoagie they use for their hot subs opened up and with cheese, olive oil, garlic, and oregano on top, then cut into 8 pieces.
Where Raffaele's really shines is the service and atmosphere. It is one of those places that you can tell people generally enjoy working at. The waitresses are on point, considerate, and very polite. The food comes out quickly, too. They even have their full menu online in high-resolution images.
All in all, Raffaele's is becoming a family favorite, with enough variety to find something for everyone and consistent quality...
Read moreI have hesitated on this review due to the response from the owner to other customers reviews. I constantly support small business owners in the tri cities by shopping at their stores and eating at their resteraunt's. I hope the owner reads this and tries to fix the problems rather than bashing the review. I ordered takeout for my family on Friday night. The food was ready a few minutes after I arrived so I assumed it would all be steaming hot when I got home approximately 2 miles away maximum 5 minutes drive time with the 2 red lights between the resteraunt and my home. I ordered the fried appetizer and two Supreme calzones. Everything in the appetizer was cold. The chicken strips where extremely dry, the mozzarella sticks where cold all way thru. The calzones where steaming hot which was good except the center was doughy. I really hope the owner tries to fix this to keep it from happening to other customers. As his customers are his neighbors and people from the community. Only...
Read moreMy family ate here tonight January 3, 2018. It was packed staff was working diligently to get people seated. Sat at our table Stella was our waitress she was fabulous and so sweet! But, the lady that normally runs the register decide to flex her b*!@% muscle. Proceeded to throw the rag they clean the tables with out to a dirt table with people eating near by. Then started yelling at the staff about how she works harder and can't do it all. But, these ladies waiting tables were killing themselves working. My husband just kept looking at me like is this really happening we visit this place often it's really a great place to eat. But, it takes one bad apple to ruin it. If I wanted to watch Jerry Springer I would have stayed home and ate a DiGiorno pizza for a lot less of a price than we paid tonight. If I was her staff I would have walked out tonight it was embarrassing for them. There is a time and place for that kind of behavior but, not during...
