Royal Garden — Restaurant in Kingston

This was the worst experience ever! Should be a ZERO option. Ordered on the Beyond Menu app on Christmas Eve around 4:30 PM. Ordered early as I expected they would be busy on that night. Order went through app no problem, got notified that order would be ready at 5:15 PM. Wife and daughter and I got in the car, went to pick it up. When I get there, there are people milling around near the front door. I walk to cashier and ask for my order. "They are just finishing it now." I sit down. Ten minutes later I ask, is it going to be much longer? Now, there is no order. I show them the app showing the confirmed order for well over 1 $135. Well, we don't have it. Besides, there is a gas issue right now, so we can't cook. Ok, you have my number, why didn't you call all the people that ordered and tell them there was no food waiting??? No apologies offered. Honestly, the place was dirty, understaffed, and complete chaos. Ruined our Christmas Eve. After going back home and scraping up something to eat, 2 hours later I get a call from Royal Garden saying, your order is ready, are you coming to pick it up? Uh, hard no on that. ...

0 Star...Maybe if you're just looking to hang out at the bar with a fried and have a few cocktails and appetizers only it'll do. But for me, and I've eaten chinese all over MA, this place is horrible. Especially if you take out or have delivery, I've gone there and had delivery a number of times to see if maybe they had an off night, but no, still the same garbage. First of all they overcharge you more than is on their take out menu, if you ask questions they tell you prices just went up, well AGAIN!! Their prices keep going up and ridiculous for what you get. I ordered the chicken and green bean and spareribs. The chicken was hard either overcooked or old and the spareribs for the price to take out were very small and barely any meat. Maybe they just take advantage on the take out orders, because youre not there to complain. I just think the surprise $5 increase on top of their regular high price, is way overpriced and not good at all. This is the tiny bit of food that I just got from here for $20!. I beef teriyaki. About only 12 pieces of boneless spare ribs but a ton of rice. Im not trying to pay $20 of my hard earned money on a combo plate that's mostly rice! And plus the food was barely warm when I opened it up to eat. I'm only a 10 minute drive from there. So there's no reason of why it should be barely warm. The ribs were really dry also. It's like they already had someone order the same thing earlier in the day and never went to go pick it up and ended up serving it to me when I called and ordered it. This is one of the worst experiences I have ever had from a Chinese restaurant. Needless to say I'll never be ordering from them ever again. I'll be sticking with happy dragon in Halifax that I have been ordering from for the past year since I moved up here. They have way better food and you get double the food for half of the price as royal garden. Lesson...
