It's taken me a long time to write this review. I've never written one, but I've never had an experience like the one I had here, and it's taken me a while to process.
I came in on July 26th, 2024. My sister was a month away from going away to college for the first time, and I wanted to do something nice with her before she left. It was a sunny day and anyone who lives in the area knows you really have to make the most of them, so we decided we would treat ourselves to a nice lakeside restaurant.
Long story short (although I will leave the full story below if you'd like to read more), the server treated us vastly different than everyone else he served including the table that was right next to us. He looked upset to even have to serve us and never checked up on us after he brought us our drinks despite coming back repeatedly to check on the table next to us. He also took over 45 minutes to bring us 2 orders of fish and chips and a kids' meal. He took so long that my sister and little cousin got up to use the bathroom again while we waited and they said that they saw the server and a coworker SITTING and LAUGHING at them when they walked by.
Finally, when the food finally arrived, it was all COLD to the touch. I was infuriated as it was beyond clear to me at that moment that we were being discriminated against in plain sight.
The server sped off as soon as he dropped off our food and only returned to check on the table next to us yet again, but not on ours.
He was clearly avoiding acknowledging me in any way after his interaction with the next table, so I had to call him over. I said, "EXCUSE ME, we waited over 30 minutes for our food, and it's COLD."
He knew he was wrong because he didn't even try to deny it. Instead, he said he would take EVERYTHING off the bill. And he did but clearly only because he knows he messed up severely.
We left the restaurant, and it's taken me a while to process, but I still feel really sad and shocked about how we were treated. I know racism still existed but to be treated with such disgust and disregard in a professional, public, and crowded environment was something I didn't think anyone, especially an EMPLOYEE at their JOB, would have the balls to do.
I don't really know how to end this other than saying I think this issue goes deeper than just the server (why did he think it was okay to act this way?). I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone who believes in equality, and writing a review honestly just doesn't do what happened justice.
My sister left for college yesterday, and we never got to do anything "special" again. We were scared to go out to eat again out of fear of having to go through discrimination again.
I don't think I can quite express the impact this experience has had on us but if it leaves you with anything, it should be a reminder that progress unfortunately still needs to be made in...

Yesterday, I went with my wife and a friend to enjoy a sunny day lunch at The Beach House Restaurant in downtown Kirkland. By luck there was a disabled parking spot open at the front door.
We were seated at an excellent and quiet table in a window nook and the food came quickly. We sat for an hour, enjoying ourselves when IT happened.
This old guy needed to use the men’s room. After a struggle just getting out from behind the table, I stood for a moment gathering the strength to walk. While I am disabled and have spent several years in a wheel chair, I can get around a bit. Yesterday, I was using a heavy cane.
I went to the check in desk and asked for directions to the rest room. I was told that it was #upstairs#. The young man pointed to an extremely long, steep and narrow set of stairs just behind them. I looked up at them in fright. I said, “I'm disabled.”I can't do that. He shrugged and said, “that's what we have,” and went about his business. Did I tell you that it was also poorly lighted?
A lady worker or manager, flitted by and suggested I hike down the street and use a public toilet in a lake side park.
Well, the end of it was that because I really needed to go, I slowly pulled myself up the stairs from hell and took care of my needs. The single booth was shoulder tight with a toilet they may have may have gotten from a day care center., seemed like it was just inches from floor. No grab bars... I was on verge of calling 911to extract me.
OK. Done my pathetic rant. Today. I am on pain meds from several badly pulled back muscles and because I did a lot of pull and lift using my right hand, it's painful, swollen and barely functional today.
Checked with state regulations and the restaurant is in noncompliance with FEDERAL ADA laws. How can that be? Fines for Disabilty Act noncompliance are really stiff. How can they get away with it?
Might of been ok if they had warning signs posted or just warned us when we entered, Canes and all. Might be ok.
In the end, I just want to alert my fellow senior disabled friends of the potty problems at the Beach House. With my almost ninety yeaqrs old body having it's own bathroom schedule, I know that I'll never be able to return, no matter the nice...
Read moreI contacted the restaurant thru their website to notify them of my unpleasant experience. It's been ten days and nobody has reached out to me. The food was very mediocre, but the reason for my complaint was regarding the server; or the lack of his service.
My partner and I sat in the middle of the dining room for 15 minutes without any service. Two tables were dining five feet across from us so there was foot traffic from the staff. Two servers walked by our table MULTIPLE times each, neither of them made eye contact with us. Even the busser walked by many times, no eye contact, no acknowledgement. We sat there like we were invisible, no water, just menus. We wanted to leave, but also wanted to see how long it would take for someone to finally approach us.
So 15 minutes in, the male server finally approached us. No apology, nothing, just a "Are you ready to order?" with an apathetic attitude. Staying calm, we order our three dishes. All the food comes out at once in less than 10 minutes. Hmm, ok.. we eat and before we finish eating, the server comes with our check dropping the line "Whenever you're ready." Are you kidding me?!? What is wrong with this dude. WE STILL HAVE OUR FORKS IN OUR HANDS! No offerings of a box, dessert, etc.
At this point, we are done. We pay the tab and left. Maybe it was the easiest tip he's made. This restaurant needs to retrain their staff. No guest should be treated this way. The service was horrible and the food (calamari appetizer and the fried fish) was definitely pre-frozen ordered directly from big distributors.
Aside from the view, there was nothing pleasant...
