Worst party experience ever!
Lack of communication First of all it was quite frustrating that I couldn’t get a hold of the owner when the taco truck was late. I called multiple times but the voicemail was full so I couldn't leave a message so I sent several texts but could not get ahold of the owner.
1 hour late arrival When I contacted the person's number I was given the evening prior, he stated he was told the party was from 12:30 to 4 not 12-4PM like I confirmed with the owner via email and phone call Friday evening, the night prior. Even if the start time was 12:30, the taco truck didn’t show up till 1 PM. Having an over 100 guests and no food was quite embarrassing.
Disrespectful customer service What was even more embarrassing was the experience my guests and I had with the two people working the taco truck.
One of my friends was given a burrito in aluminum foil and no plate. When she asked for a fork, the man simply just dropped the burrito in her hand.
My biggest challenge was any time I tried to ask the two employees for anything I was given a really bad attitude. When I explained that I was hosting the party, the gentleman simply shrugged his shoulders like he didn't care. When I asked for salsa his response was everything that you need is in there. I pointed to my tacos and said there is no salsa in there and I had seen other guests with no salsa or hot sauces as well.
Unavailable food and service items Taquitos and shells for the taco salad were not available. I was told by the owner that the taco truck to feed up to 6000 people at a summer festival so had no concerns with food items not being available. What happened?
It would have been helpful to cross items off the menu so my guests could select something different before getting to the front of the line and having to pick something else. How do you come to host a party that starts at noon and already be out of items?
There were no napkins, nor plastic spoons/forks provided. The burritos were huge and required spoons/forks to eat yet none were provided like a full taco truck experience usually provides.
No salsa/hot sauces provided - even when asked, was given attitude for asking. If they weren’t going to be available because of health safety reasons, then the person taking the order should be asking what sauces the guests would want. The lady never asked our guests.
Not staffed correctly: Over 30 minutes to get food orders Understanding food trucks require some wait time, most of our guests waited over 30 min to get their orders. This is unreasonable. If we were to order at a park, beach or something, no one would wait that long for their order.
The woman taking orders only took orders. The man had to make all the food. This is inefficient and led to long wait times. It seems with this set up, you need at least 3 people working the truck for parties such as ours to avoid the long wait times.
Inflated order count for payment When I asked for salsa for my tacos, the man asked me if I wanted him to make me a new order. This would mean he would charge me again so I said no. If he asked other guests this same question and they said yes, I can see how he came up with a count of 150 when I only had 130 total guests. This is dishonest business handling.
Only when payment was due was I able to get a hold of the Manager/Owner despite multiple calls and texts to them. They were not available when I had issues, just for...
Read moreWe had contracted Tacos El Güero to arrive at a performance event last night. We advertised heavily that there would be a taco truck, and that people should come hungry. And they did - over 50 people came to the performance an hour early in order to get tacos, get an early seat and enjoy each anothers' company. TACO EL GÜERO DID NOT SHOW. No phone call, no email, nothing. I had confirmed with them three times since initial contact, the last time being two days before the event. ('Yes, we are all set!' was the response I had gotten.) When it became evident that the taco truck was not going to come, we made an announcement from the stage, telling people to go out and get things to eat and to please come back for the show, which we delayed in order to allow this to happen. I'm sure we lost audience members as a result of this.
This is an absurdly nonprofessional way to behave to a client with whom one has repeatedly assured everything was set. What a terrible business Tacos...
Read moreI always hate to pile on, but yeah… I just wasn’t impressed. I really wanted to be. I grew up around taco trucks and taquerias, so when they were brought to my area on a semi consistent basis by a local neighbor that organized it, I was optimistic. Unfortunately, the food just didn’t do it for me. I felt like the meat was sub par. Like the seasoning was okay, but the cut seemed lower quality and the onions were not diced enough like the prep cook was cutting corners. I don’t know. I love me some tacos, so I’d eat there in a pinch again, and it’s not like I threw them out… but would I seek them out in an area with options? Not a chance! Especially for $3 a taco. Sorry fellas. Hope you take this review for what it is, but looking at previous responses to reviews, it doesn’t seem as though constructive criticism is welcomed. Just my 2 cents. All I had were tacos so maybe other items are better???...
