Service was seriously lacking , but the food was good . We waited quite a while after our drink order until our server came back - to place our appetizer orders . The queso dip had a 3x3x1/2” chunk of cold cheese in the middle of it . Probably didn’t microwave it long enough, lol. It took forever for the apps to come out . We had only been eating them about 5 minutes ( not even close to being finished ) when here comes our food . I made the statement. We just got our appetizers. At which point the girl in the tie-dyed hoodie immediately turned around without even saying a word and left with our food. When my husband caught our server going by, he said we didn’t ask for them to take it away. We were just commenting that we had literally just received our appetizers. Our server (brown T-shirt and a nose ring) replied , not with an “I’m sorry, our kitchen was __ or whatever” , but she just got real snippy and said well, that’s because she’s never had someone ask to bring the food back. I did not in any way Ask for her to take the food back-There just wouldn’t have been room on our table with all of our appetizer plates That’s why I said that we had just received our appetizers. Our server never returned to ask how our food was. We had to flag her down to get more drinks. She asked me if I wanted a box I said yes. And some hot pepper flakes which I had asked for upon ordering and never received them. She brought me back the pepper flakes, but no box. I could’ve used a refill on my water, but I wasn’t going to ask for any thing else at this point. And the man who brought out the replacement grilled cheese, was the only one who apologized. He was nice. The other two women who served us obviously have attitude problems. The food was good, but the service was bad. We will not be back.
My seafood platter was delicious . My husband loved his pasta. My daughter’s grilled cheese was burnt on one side , which they tried to hide by turning the sandwich burnt side down. Our server gave us an attitude and didn’t even apologize. She just grabbed it and left .
Our issue was that we were treated like we were just cattle. Nobody cared about giving good service. We are always understanding if the restaurant is super busy and understaffed, just fill us in. If you’re short staffed, and can’t be as fast as usual, tell us. Communication is the key. We would’ve been a lot more understanding if we had been talked to like human beings, not annoyances . Neither of them even smiled...
Read moreWe went here with 2 other couples and were greeted by a rude and unconcerned host. We decided to wait the 40 minutes anyway. When we placed our order, we told the waitress we were 2, 2, and 2. She said nothing about not splitting checks. The food took almost an hour to arrive while tables that had come in after us had eaten and left. The food was finally delivered after we asked to speak to the manager. He stated "the Sautee station was backed up". I responded that he could have told us that rather than have us wait with no explanation. When the food arrive, it was mediocre at best. The items from the Sautee station were warm, but everything else had died waiting in the window. The manager apologized and offered to take 10% off the bill. Then check arrived and we were informed that they could not split the check 3 ways. That gem was not listed anywhere on the online menu. If it had been, we would have eaten somewhere else. *Edited to add ---- No splitting tabs is listed on the happy hour menu but not on the dinner menu *
We paid the bill and then noticed the 10% discount had not been applied. I brought that to the managers attention and he assured me "I gave you a 25% discount. I showed him the receipt and no discount had been applied. They then voided that charge and ran my credit card for a second time.
I am sure it was voided properly, however for the moment, I have 2 charges that could not be split on my credit card because a "manager " could not manage his kitchen staff or communicate to the waitstaff.
The waitress was friendly enough, however we wasted too much time, energy and money for mediocre food. I would recommend choosing one of the other local bar and grills if you are eating out in OBX.
We realized dining out on a Saturday summer evening would take a while, but the poor management was...

This one of our favorite places at the beach. We enjoy the restaurant. The menu selections are spot on for any type or person, group or just having a romantic dinner for two.
But a little disappointed tonight. We started with calamari. The presentation was great but the breading was bland-no flavor. And it was greasy. The I had a cup of she crab soup. A super all time favorite. But the Sherry was mixed into the soup before it hit the table. The flavor was good and the soup was hot when it arrived. My Wife had the soup of the day "Hatteras Soup" but was cold.
My Wife and I shared the Calabash Fried Seafood-Fried Shrimp, Fried Flounder and Fried Scallops. The flounder was great. But the other items were greasy. I believe the oil in the fryer was old causing this particular situation.
Please understand I love the restaurant and we will be back again. And this just may be an off night.
