My wife and I are checking out places for Breakfast in the OBX. How did this place even get a 4.3 star review? On this day my wife and I ordered breakfast. I have attached the receipt. There were only 7 people in the restaurant besides my wife and I so our experience was not from a overly busy kitchen or wait staff. We usually have coffee with breakfast but this morning we passed on that after the server told us she thinks the coffee is Maxwell House. And for $4 a cup we decided to go six blocks down the road to a regular coffee shop after breakfast where a cup of coffee is $2.45 even with refills. We ordered:
The Glass of milk was about a Half a Liter in size (not bad as they charge $3.75 for a glass) My wife had the Side of Home Fries and Sausage Patties. Her comment was the home fries were edible (not really fully cooked) and the Sausage was just fine. My breakfast… The eggs were done as I like them, and the toast was served still warm. However, that is where a pleasant breakfast ends. The corned beef hash was “Burned Black” (see the attached picture). I found it hard to believe the waitress would serve anything that burned. I asked to have some different corned beef hash. She said OK and 5 minutes later I received well done but not burned corned beef hash. Unfortunately, the cook did not clean the grill after burning the others and the new order tasted very burned even though it wasn’t. It was not until we asked for the check and the server came to take our plates away that she noticed how black the hash was and then apologized for serving the burned food. No, we will not go back. I cannot recommend this place...
Read moreWe frequent Sandtrap as we live within 45 mins of the outer banks. We had a craving for their chicken sandwich so decided to make the drive. The restaurant was not overly busy but a few tables including us did come in back to back so understandably we knew service would be a little slow to start off. 3 of the 4 chicken sandwiches were still slightly raw when they arrived at our table. Waitress seemed confused as to why it was a problem. They did remake our order, when she delivered the food we ordered another round of beers that never made it to our table, waitress never came back to check on us. We had to flag her down to get the check. Some guy sitting a few tables over told the waitress to not give us a tab due to the food issues. While I appreciate having a meal comp’d but if he was an owner or manager and didn’t come over to apologize or explain that the meal was comp’d seems a little shitty. It’s a shame this is one of our favorite places specially in the off season. It will be a while before we decide to go again. I understand kitchen accidents happen with food and that it is outside of the waitress’s control but at that point customer service...
Read moreFood was okay. Typical golf course food. We had a large party right at trivia time. Drinks were fast. Food was slow. They were out of Mt dew and ciabatta bread. Wait staff was super friendly and helpful, but apparently the kitchen can go only so fast. UPDATE still 3 stars. Prices are up. Portions are down. The BLT is okay. Ask for mayo. Brisket melt meat is chewy. Moving on. Tex Mex salad good. Ran out salad before the dressing. Lol. Club sandwich is a safe bet. Fries are good. They are coated not fresh cut. Burgers good. Buffalo shrimp is good. They had to order 2 for a young adult portion. Wait staff is still awesome. Quick with drinks and any of our needs. With 13 of us, we had a lot of needs. Ha. If you have kids ask for the kids menu. Crayons yay. I would say up the portions. Add some kitchen staff. All the problems are fixable. UPDATE. We go every year. I don't know why. This year we did not go on trivia night. Besides us, there was 7 people at 2 different tables. The drinks took a bit. Food took a bit. My burger was delicious. Would get it again. Everyone seemed to enjoy it. More waiters would...
