POSTING THIS AGAIN SO THAT IT STAYS VISIBLE. ESPECIALLY CONSIDERING NO ONE FROM BEACH REALTY EVER REPLIED.

I’ve rented from this company every year for the last 10 years. I have spent thousands of dollars renting houses over the years.

Wishing I could give 0 stars. Worst vacation of my entire life. Arrived Sat at 4pm and as we started unpacking and using different parts of the house we noticed several issues with the cleanliness and overall disrepair of the house which included: -Mold in all of the showers (I refused to shower there) -Kitchen sink leaked all over countertop and faucet was loose -Mold where counter meets backsplash -Light fixtures not working, falling apart -Toilet in master bed completely detached from (rotten) floor, my husband found this out the hard way when it almost completely tipped over on him when he went to stand up -loose ceiling fans -vents covered in dust throughout the house including bathroom fans

I emailed Beach Realty around 7pm to address the issues (the office was closed). I was happy to receive a call the next morning and scheduled a 3 hr window of time where we would be gone so they could send their tech out. We returned at 3pm to find that no one had been there. I call the realty office and am told that tech is in Corolla and he’s the only tech working today, so he’s still coming. I told the manager I was speaking to that I didn’t want to spend any part of my vacation waiting for or watching repairmen work on the house. I pointed out that these issues are bigger than a tech can handle in a couple hours. She treated me as if I were being over dramatic and like I was stupid.

A 10 minute conversation ensued with the manager saying these issues were minor inconveniences but don’t make the house uninhabitable so they can’t move us. I pointed out that an inoperable kitchen sink and toilet are pretty major things to live without. She said the only way to get a refund was to ask the owner. She basically told me that Beach Realty does not bear any responsibility for the condition of the house.

Sooooo, the tech showed up around 4:30pm and was there for 3 HOURS. It wasn’t his fault and he was as nice as he could be. That entire time was spent fixing the sink, so none of the other items had even been addressed by 7:30pm. We were starving but didn’t want to sit down and have dinner with him working on the sink. He agreed that the bathroom floor was rotted and the completely detached toilet had a broken wax ring. It was unsafe. The next morning I get a call from the manager that they are happy to move us. She sent us several options to move to, but none of them were worth the $1200/wk we were paying for the original house. So I asked for a refund, the manager agreed to refund $800. At this point I just wanted the situation to end. We accepted the refund and drove the 12 hours home on Monday afternoon, arriving home at 2:30am. It was dark and pouring down rain. We attempted to rent from Beach Realty but it was such a infuriating experience we will never try again and we will now warn others to stay away.

We found a unit that we loved and wanted to rent, we submitted the paperwork and were informed that it literally had been sold that day and was now being managed by BRNC. Not a big deal, we called BRNC and let them know we were interested in renting it and that as of that day the week we wanted had been available. We were informed that they didn't have all the info yet and couldn't book yet, totally understandable, gave them our info and to let us know asap as it was Jan and August rentals were going fast. We reached out every other day for a week trying to find out if this unit would be available and kept getting told that they knew nothing. Eventually I pushed and explained that if it wasn't available just let us know and we would move on. At this point they informed us that the new owner had booked that week for themselves, annoying that it took a week to find this out but once again not a big deal. BRNC tried to help finding us another unit but we were not interested in that. We moved forward and booked another unit on our own. Several days later BRNC reached back out to us and said the original house was available for the week we wanted. We had already booked another unit that had cancellation penalties but this was what we really wanted. We immediately called BRNC and asked could they guarantee us the rental and hold it for 24 hours so that we could ensure that we got out of our other rental agreement. They said it was no problem and no one could book it. Based on this guarantee from their staff we canceled our other rental that night and set up a call for 8am the next morning to finalize the booking. We got on the phone the next morning and COULD NOT BOOK IT, the unit had been rented. Come to find out the owner had changed their mind once again and rented it to a family member and according to BRNC there was nothing they could do and there was no actual hold on the property. They continued to attempt to push another rental option on us with no added benefits considering how they had screwed us. At this point we had lost almost 2 weeks of booking time and incurred fees because BRNC couldn't keep their word.

Most of this was unfortuante circumstances but not something I would be angry about. However the horrendous communication within this company and false guarantees from their employees led to a horrible experience that lost us money for nothing. I do not know what kind of relationship they have with their owners but I would have hoped at one point they would have mentioned to the owner that they had a family chomping at the bit to rent it. At this point I would be leary to trust anything they say and would even worry about getting to one of their rentals and finding that it had been...

Coleman’s Beach Front Inn - K0175

Prior to renting this property, I read many reviews of others. On all that I read, they talked about the location and the wonderful view of the ocean from this house. WARNING – if you are wanting to see the ocean waves breaking from the house or deck, you will only see the sand dunes. You can indeed, see the ocean, if you are standing up, but only the distant ocean, not the breaking waves. While this house is indeed oceanfront, it does not have an ocean view. My main reason for renting an oceanfront home was for the view. Needless to say, I was extremely disappointed by what I was not seeing. The description on the website says “Coleman’s Beach Front Inn features amazing ocean views and private walkways to the beach.” There are no ocean views from this house if you are sitting down! The owners may want to think about building a taller deck on the back of the house for those of us that want that view while drinking our coffee in the mornings or enjoying a cocktail in the evening. Quite honestly, I could have stayed at a house across the street with an upper deck, saved money and had a better ocean view.

We did our normal look around to make sure all was in order. For the most part, this was a fairly clean home with plenty of space for everyone. There is only one refrigerator inside the house, not two as described. The location was great. Close enough to restaurants yet not much beach crowd. It was a short walk up and over the dune to the beach which was great. I did like the fact that we were able to bring our dog. It was very each to go for walks on the beach with her.

I know this house is an older home but the owner should consider renovating the bathrooms by installing walk-in showers in lieu of the old bathtub/shower units they have now. The main bathroom was much to be desired. There were holes in the shower wall and the tracking for the shower doors was old, bent and rusted (or is that mold?). It was very difficult to slide the shower door closed without it coming off the track. While trying to get the shower doors back in the tracks, the whole frame and doors started coming apart and fell on my husband. We were finally able to get the frame and doors back up but that bathroom was out of commission for showers after that. It was good thing this home had two full bathrooms.

Finally, even though we were on vacation, we still like to keep up with current events and watch the news. It was very interesting that all news stations were available except for Fox News. Why was...
