Shoney's - Chapman Hwy — Restaurant in Knoxville

We tried to eat here Friday night the buffet bar empty most of the night. They promoted the ribs, beef tips, salmon, and catfish. The only ribs that was on the bar was bones, they never even bothered to remove and put the ribs with meat on the bar. The salmon was old and dried out. No one would eat it because it was so disgusting and the beef tips were cooked so hard it looked like parts of steaks that were sent back and kept warm all day with a few green peppers and onion tossed in with them.

The salad bar was better but the cake was never filled up nor did they attempt to fill up the bar.

When we got there, they were people complaining about them waiting on food the whole night. The waitress kept telling them that the manager was helping the cooks get it filled asap. It was not the truth. One man tried to cook and fill the bar the whole time we were there. They need to get thier act together. Not the family atmosphere you want to be in fighting for the next chicken finger dropped on a heated plate watching the lions fight for it and the other lions waiting 45 mins for the next Chicken...

Thought I'd stop in and eat. Should've realized just how bad this was going to be when I stood at the door waiting to be seated.

I stood there for 3-5 mins. Went to ladies room which was trashed. I did like the water faucet.

I then came out and stood another few mins before some man told someone to seat the person at the door.

Lady came and took me to the dirtiest section and left me with a menu.

Didn't ask if I wanted anything to drink and left. I sat there a good 25 mins with no one showing up. Then they sat man by himself, then a group of people came in. Guess who they waited on. Not me. The group.

I was so fed up by the unfriendlness and the fact I might not be a big ticket. Ignored me.

I did not have water tp drink, nothing.

I left my phone on the table and had to go back. No one said boo to me and you'd never guess the 5 mins I was gone. They still didn't come to my table. I found my phone still there. Again no one said a word then either. Did not ask why or what was wrong. Not even hello.

Never will I go in that Shoney's ever. ...

Why is it a 4 star? We stopped here because it was a 4 star.

Instead of taking the salad bar we took the food bar.

The only meat I could eat was the fried chicken. The rest was pork and I cannot eat pork. The fried chicken was greasy and slightly undercooked.

I tried to eat what I thought was stuffing or dressing but it turned out to be a mash of ground beef with onions and cranberries in it. The cranberry sauce alone was good.

I then had a salad. The cauliflower had brown spots. The carrots tasted old. The cheese tasted strange. The mashed potatoes were dry from being left out too long so I had to dig in it and put some gravy on it. The cottage cheese did not much taste to it. The macaroni salad was good. Other than that, the lettuce, broccoli, onion were fine.

The Sweet Tea was good.

My husband says he lived it. I did too even though it could be improved. The waitress was attentive.

I did not finish it so that is what I am giving it a 3 star. Maybe if came on another night it might have...
