Henry's Great Alaskan Restaurant — Restaurant in Kodiak

Wednesday afternoon around five thirty. Sat at the bar. Ordered Fish and chips with a side of Cole Slaw. The place was not terribly busy, four people at the bar including me, one received food as I sat down, one previously ordered and the other arrived behind me. Three minutes to get a menu and order a drink. Twelve minutes to order food and fifteen for it to arrive. Fish was oily (coat your fingers oily), fries tasted like the fish and the slaw was cabbage and Mayo with perhaps some mustard? Not much flavor. I am guessing the fryer temp was a tad too low for frying fish as it was not crispy or crunchy at all. I am going to assume it sat for a bit in the window as it was not hot and the fries were somewhat warm. No condiments or seasoning offered with the food. Bartender was not attentive. All that aside, having to pay $5.50 for a side of slaw was clincher. Paid more for the side order than my drink! Not impressed with the place. Bummer too, as it was...

There was an incident at 12pm waiting to be seated we had 8 people in our party. The host Addelina came back and said about 10 minutes to wait for the party of 6 people when she knew there was 8. The bartender at the time not sure of her name but she had bland hair with pink was really rode and told us to leave wail people where hi walking into the building and seating them selves at tables. My sister and I along with my uncle and aunt went back to play pull tables and the bartender that is working there right now came up to us and told us we needed to leave as we where ripping tabs we asked if we could finish and she pretty much told us to leave.

The customer service was really bad. Don’t think I’ll be going back there for a while. Until they have better people in that industry who cares about there customers. There was plenty of seating But you took a hole other party beside my party that was waiting for...

First time in Kodiak and stopped at Henry’s for dinner. The menu has quite a selection of dishes with a lot of emphasis on local seafood.

I chose the 6oz bacon wrapped filet, ordered medium rare. Now you might think this is just a bar with food but the steak came out perfectly medium rare. Easy, right? But how many times has a place messed it up? Not Henry’s.

We had been traveling all day from Seattle and had been eating and snacking along the way. As such I wasn’t super hungry and didn’t eat all of my steak (which tasted great). When I got my bill our server Rea had comped the steak thinking I didn’t like it.

I immediately asked to put it back on the bill, because there was nothing wrong with it. When my revised bill came back our server still threw a discount in, which I gave back in the tip.
