Mauricio's Taco Shop — Restaurant in La Junta

I’m in town visiting. My in-laws talked great about this place and their food. I went through the drive through and placed two orders. Keep in mind we’re from FL. So things may be different favors. I order 2 horchata for 4.50. The lady gives us our drinks and it looked different. More like a cream color than a white. So my in-law tried it and didn’t like it. I asked the lady if she can change it because something wasn’t right with the drink and it tasted different. She wasn’t having it at all. She wanted us to pick a Fountain drink which was a different amount from what we paid. Then proceeded to get mad and started talking to us rude. She said I will not change your drink again so pick what you want and that will be the end of it. She then went to talk about the whole thing to another worker who told her just give us our money back for the drinks. So she did. I tried to call and talk to the owner but he wasn’t there and I asked when will him be in and she said I’m in charge right now. So here I am writing a review. Ask for a breakdown of your receipt—Mauricio’s ADDS IN EXTRA CHARGES that they think you won’t notice! Today I went to Mauricio’s and was charged appx. $8 in extra charges. I ordered menudo ($14.95), a meal that had 2 beef tacos rice and beans ($11.10) a chicken taco ($2.83), a beef, bean & cheese burrito ($10.50) and a large horchata ($4.50). My total for these items came up to $52.08 so I asked to see a breakdown of my receipt. There was a $2 charge that said See Server. This turned out to be for the bread that should have been included along with the highly overpriced container of menudo. There were also two charges for extra cheese at $1.50 each that I did not order. Ultimately my order should have come up to $44.12 and instead was $52.08. Although I brought these issues to their attention, I was not refunded for any of the extra charges. From now on I will make the drive to Taqueria...

If you’re looking for fast food you might be happy. To sit down and enjoy a meal, you’ll be disappointed. For great Mexican go to Lucy’s Mexican. Here’s why… You can’t even read the menu very clearly. Cashier didn’t offer to suggest anything when I said the pictures weren’t very clear. Food was bland in my opinion and I love Mexican food. Eat it all the time. Was on the list for top 5 green chili restaurants, cashier didn’t know if I want sauce or salsa. Language barrier???? Reviewer probably didn’t even go there!
