Asian Cafe — Restaurant in La Junta

Update June 2025: This restaurant must be under new ownership since I was here 2 years ago. If you want american chinese food, look no further. The Viet Rice Noodle Bowl should be taken off the menu. At its best, that dish is light and crispy with fresh carrot, lettuce, bean sprouts, rice noodles boiled and NOT fried, and a protein + the fish sauce/lime juice sauce. This bowl as ordered was a greasy mess, the noodles were FRIED and oily, the lettuce was oily, it was not made correctly. The waiter also took my order wrong and offered no apology or measure to fix his mistake. I would not come here again.

ORIGINAL REVIEW: Our car decided to stall in La Junta and the best part of it was getting food here. I got Singapore Noodles and my partner got the Viet Rice Noodle Bowl with chicken. We also got the shrimp & avocado summer rolls. I can not stress enough how delicious everything was! The chicken had crispy exterior and was cooked perfectly, the Singapore noodles had so many fresh veggies - baby bok choy, carrots, red pepper, snow peas, onion, zucchini. Everyone working here was so kind and offered us tons of water and ice - it was a high of 102° and we’d been driving all day and it was so appreciated. Everytime I go here I get something different. I'm always most impressed by the quality and freshness of the ingredients. I think I might have found my favorite dish now. The summer rolls!! Since this is an appetizer on the menu I got 2 orders and a side of seaweed salad. I tried the chicken roll and the avocado roll. A shrimp roll is also available. It's served with a beautiful tasting slightly spicy sauce to dip the rolls in. Summer rolls are a thin transparent rice paper filled with cool rice noodles (this dish is meant to be cool/room temp, it is not fried but the meat inside is cooked and seasoned perfectly) and fresh basil. It's a very simple dish but very filling while also being light. Perfect for the summer. The service is always spot on. The chef is happy to alter most dishes to leave out any ingredients, when possible. I love this because I have a sensitive stomach. I cannot wait to go back for more summer rolls!! My honey and I stopped in for lunch, great service, was so excited to find a place with pho closer to us then Denver. Will definitely go back. They have a large menu and everything we had tasted great! I got the chicken pho and my honey got the garlic chicken. The seaweed salad was great and the fried pot stickers were crispy on the outside and soft and juicy on the inside. The service was attentive without hovering and thats always great! We ordered after our meal for a to go order and my honey got the shrimp fried rice, big peices of shrimp, the rice and vegetables were light, not greesy and had a fresh flavor.
