Sam's Burgers #2 — Restaurant in La Mirada

Food is okay. Mediocre but not gross. I didn't get sick the two times I've eaten here. If you're wondering what the burgers and fries are like: one possible comparison is The Burger Pit. I don't know how many readers have had food from The Burger Pit, but that's what it tastes like. It's on the greasy side slightly, but usually not so bad to make it inedible.

I had the Caldo de Res too, and thought it was okay. Not sensational but decent, and not too greasy or oily.

I have given this location a two star for CS. This might not affect Uber or Door Dash eaters, but the staff here is not friendly. Often you're greeted with a 'wait for a moment' from the counter lady who seems to be working on something that is not very important or related to the drive thru service (yet she seems to content to prioritise this busywork over paying guests); I've witnessed her do the same to another customer. Either she's always busy and cannot be bothered or she prefers the other work to taking our orders. Nonetheless, it's a bit of letdown and my point is thus: I can tolerance some rudeness and indifferent if the food is 'amazing' beyond compare and really worth it. Sadly, neither is the case. The food is mediocre at best, and the service is terrible. (But they have a big menu, so you'll probably find something you'll like if you decide to give it a try. I had always come here when I was little with my parents and everyone was like a big family and very friendly. If anything went wrong they’d do anything to make it right. Most if not all of the workers are different from before and Now all people I’ve spoken to seem to be very unhappy and serious. You say thank you and they don’t even acknowledge it. You’re given your order and before you can say anything they slam the window in your face. It’s very unwelcoming now. I don’t think I’ll be going here anymore the only reason I gave 2 starts is bc I like the food here. They got my asada fries wrong so I called and they said I could get a free one next time since I didn’t want to go back that same day. I gave them my name and they said I could just give them my name to get my free asada fries. I went there today and they had no idea about this. Although I still got my free fries it seemed they reduced the size of all other items in the order. For my French toast I only received 1 slice of bread instead of the usual 3. And whenever my husband would ask for extra guacamole they seemed to give him less guacamole. Unfortunately, I don’t recommend this...

This place has gone down in quality and cleanliness. I have been coming here for almost 20 years. The new cooks burn the food and spend too much time flirting than cooking. The new waitress was eating while she was behind the counter and touching customers' food with her bare hand....then proceeded to touch cash and go back to eating her food....no gloves and no washing hands!! The cooks were touching their faces and touching food... again, no gloves! No washing hands!! It was disgusting and concerning how these new cooks and waitresses handle customers' food. I will NOT be going back. I tried giving this place the benefit of the doubt because I have practically grew up eating here, but the last 5 times that I have been here have been bad. Burnt food, hair in food, cook touching his face then touching my food, burnt food again, and this last time was when the waitress was eating and touching cash and touching my food...that was the absolute last chance I give this place.
