This is by far the WORST Waffle house in which I have ever been. My family and I were neither greeted nor acknowledged when we entered even though the staff looked at us directly. There wasn't even a smile. The service was painfully inept, lackadaisical, and unenthusiastic. Our server was Christina and she was by far one of the worst there. Her appearance was slovenly and unkempt, she lacked energy, and she chomped her gum the entire time giving the impression she didn't care about her work or her job. Her service reinforced this impression. We were not offered refills on our coffee at anytime, Christina did not check on us to make sure our food was satisfactory, and it took her almost ten minutes AFTER we finished out food to bring our check because she hadn't even bothered to make it out until after we were done. Then, when we offered payment, we were summarily ignored even though it wasn't busy. Our plates weren't even cleared. In all the Waffle Houses I've been in the check arrives with the food so when you're done, you can get on with the business of the day quickly. More often than not, you don't even have to go to the cashier.
As if the poor service wasn't bad enough, the cleanliness was borderline nauseating. The walls, ceiling, floors, and counters were filthy and covered in grease. The floor behind the counter hadn't been swept, and I don't think the table we sat at had been wiped down all day. The door to the back room stood open the entire time which made it look even messier. There was debris hanging from the ceiling and out of the vents and grease all the way up the walls. The waffle irons had old batter collected at their bases where the excess had been trimmed off and none of the associates bothered to clean it off once.
All in all, for our first Waffle House visit after a very long time, this was a huge disappointment. I have worked in customer service my entire career and this was far below even my lowest expectations. If it had been busy, yes I would have understood to a degree. This is a tough industry to be sure. However, bad day, busy day, it's no excuse for ignoring people when they walk in and not even offering a smile nor is it an excuse for the inattention to...
Read moreMy breakfast companion and I sat down at a booth and waitress came to our booth and took out her order pad and pen and asked us what we wanted to order. There was nothing on our tabletop, including menus! Told her we needed to see the menus before we could order. So she went and got us one menu (for two people sitting opposite from one another in a booth! My companion had to ask her for a menu for him. There were only two other customers there so they definitely weren't very busy at that time. We ordered coffee with our breakfast and was never offered a refill. The temperature outside was comfortable enough to wear tee shirt and shorts but inside Waffle House they had the AC on so low that we were shivering as we were ordering our breakfast and asked our waitress if they could raise the temp so it wouldn't be so cold inside. Said she'd see about it. The temp obviously wasn't turned up any because we continued shivering as we tried to enjoy eating our breakfast. But before we could finish eating our breakfast order, we had to each get a to-go container to put the remainder of our breakfast in to take home with us to eat there because it was too cold in there to finish eating our...
Read moreLoved the food, the service was super. However I was very disappointed that this location would not show appreciation to VETERANS. yesterday I enjoyed the waffle house in Crowley louisiana and the staff commented on my disabled veteran license plate and without me asking gave me a VETERANS DISCOUNT. Today I went to this location in Lafayette and I enquired about a VETERANS DISCOUNT and I was told in a firm voice "we don't do that here, we only give discounts to police officers " I replied, ""what a shame that you don't honor VETERANS " I was told "I don't make the rules, corporate does " I was told that this location is corporate owned. SHAME ON YOU GUYS. I will visit franchise locations who honor VETERANS of the United States...
