Linder's Tavern On Main — Restaurant in Lagrange

I have never written a poor review, but this time, I feel it deserves it. We are not from around here and found the tavern on the web. They were busy, as we expected for a Friday evening. However, there were still plenty of tables open. Our service was the big issue, we waited 10 minutes to get a waitress to take our drink order and her comment was "sorry, we just got really busy". No biggie, but then we waited 45 minutes for 2 sandwiches ( a bacon, chicken cheese & french dip) and watched while other guest who arrived after us received their food. All the while, our waitress never returned to check on us for drinks, etc. After finally finally tracking her down, her comment was "well the chicken takes 7 minutes to cook." I reminded her we had been there 45 min at that time. We waited another 10 minutes for the food (which actually was hot and tasty), then never saw the waitress again. I've never, not tipped a waitress even if she wasn't the best, but last night, she did not get a tip. It really appeared she was so much more interested in the larger group than 2 measly customers. Oh, and then today there are 2 charges on my credit card from Linders...

After reading the reviews, I decided to try this place out. We are originally from the South and had been wanting some good fried chicken which is hard to find in this area. The search continues. I really wanted to like it, but it's just not good. Let me first say that the customer service was excellent; the lady who took our order over the phone was great as well as the man who checked me out when I came to pick it up. Very friendly and welcoming. But...the chicken had no flavor other than burnt grease. It was greasy and dry. The coleslaw was heavy on the mayo; that's all I could really taste. The sweet potato fries tasted okay, although limp and greasy. They'd be better with a tempura coating to crisp them up and hold some seasoning. I've never not finished an order of fried mushrooms, but I didn't finish these. They were just very bland, no flavor in the breading and the mushrooms were unusually chewy. My son would eat chicken every day if I'd let him, but he also was not a fan and didn't finish his meal either. He did like the macaroni and...

A great place to eat ! They have early Bird specials until 5:00 which imcludes a very nice house salad. I had the cheesebutger, which comes with fries, but I opted for the brussel sprouts, which are chopped and bacon and brisket are added in. They have a great beer selection, and wine is available, too. My wife ordered a mascato but didn't think it was sweet enough. This brings me to the service at Linders, It was excellent ! My wife asked the waitress to have the bartender check to make sure it was mascato she was served. She came back and confirmed it was. She then offered to comp the wine and replace it with something else. My wife then suggested a brand she prefeerrs, the waitress let the owner know and said they will work on addding a sweeter version. Our server checked back on our table numerous times and couldn't have been friendlier. She and all the other employees made us feel at home and thanked us and invited us back as we were leaving. We will be back, and I highly recommend Linders for a great meal and...
