El Pájaro Azul Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Lake Arrowhead

We've had very mixed experiences here. We came a couple times a few years ago and weren't terribly impressed with the food or service. It wasn't anything HORRIBLE, but nothing that stood out. Flash forward to about a month ago, and we decided to give them another try. That time we were actually impressed. The food was definitely better than we remembered, and service was decent.

Today, unfortunately, I had an experience that didn't make me ever want to come back. I ordered, and pointed to on the menu, the one shrimp enchilada with rice and beans. The server, Isabel, did not ask for any clarification, and seemingly saw to where I pointed on the menu. However, she brought me one shrimp enchilada a la carte. I asked, to be nice, "Doesn't this come with rice and beans?" She then proceeded to tell me that I ordered it a la carte. I told her I never said "a la carte" and pointed to what I wanted on the menu which comes with rice and beans. She then proceeded to tell me that I did not do that. I'm still astounded that she had the nerve to tell me MISTAKENLY what I had ordered. It was beyond stupid for her to assert that to my face instead of admitting a mistake on her part. On top of that, I was extremely disappointed in the food.

My wife and I live in Crestline, Ca., and often pass through Blue Jay. And when we do, for over five years, we eat at El Pajaro Azul Mexican Grill. We have come to know David,(Owner)and his wife. And, their extended family. Their food my friends, has a flavorful, authentic Mexican flavor. We have brought our family and friends from AZ. And, the Mid-west. They're ALL new fans of this family owned/operated tasty spot! David IS, in espanol or English? 😅 An amazing host and, 'front-man' for this establishment. We HAVE enjoyed a number of appetizers, al la' carte, and meals from their menu. What a selection. And very affordable. ANYTHING featuring their red sauce? Enchiladas, ect? You will love the flavor combinations. So visitors to the Rim. Or, our local neighbors, PLEASE let your palate and appetite take you... South of the border for lunch? Dinner? A cold Michelada with a delectable appetizer? Visit David and his family. He, and his friendly staff are truly beyond belief. And you can quote me here, You WILL want to go back. Please consider....

Kudos to this amazing restaurant! Their delicious homemade food, excellent customer service, and spotless cleanliness truly stand out. We’re out-of-town folks and quite picky about food, but they absolutely deserve recognition.

We came in one day and loved it so much that, even though we had planned to try another place, we decided to come back instead—their food is that good!
