I ate here for the first time January 2022. My husband said the food was really good. I ordered lobster stuffed salmon with cabbage (an extra side of cabbage, which was 2.50 for a smidgen) and beans, cornbread came with it. The fish was ok, a bit dry though. Cabbage and and beans tasted like what I eat at home so it was nothing I've never had. That cornbread was really rich and buttery like cake. I didn't care for it. It was ok overall but I can eat the same thing at home and cook it how i like. Also got some of their red velvet and it was trash. I love red velvet cake but theirs had white, vanilla frosting and it's supposed to be cream cheese frosting. Our family stopped here for lunch on a road trip to Texas. The young lady at the register/phone was exceptionally kind and helpful!! She even took the time to share one of her favorite places in Austin that she thought my family would enjoy. Ok, so the food...this was LA soul food at it's finest. We had the shrimp po'boy, which was enormous and the shrimp were delicious. My kids split a cheeseburger, also graciously-sized. The shrimp and crab gumbo was (temp) hot as fire, and was great! My favorite was the fried fish and shrimp. The seasoning was perfect and it was fried just right (also large portion). Wish I had ordered a daily special, because they all looked awesome too. OH. MY. GOODNESS! 🤩😍🤩😍 Why can't I give this place 10 stars?! EVERYTHING is incredible. No matter what you choose, you can't go wrong. The oxtail, rice, and gravy was the creamiest and most succulent I've ever had. The yams were sweet and the cabbage was a little spicy but also top tier.
