Please do not go to this resturant. Trust me I was so embarrassed and could not believe what these people did to us and a few other customers. I brought my sister to eat at this restaurant. We got there about 2 pm we walk in they tell us the price we paid. We walk up to the buffet most of the items were dried up, and some were 98% empty . I normally eat the same type of items at these resturants so I ask a lady that was on the floor to refill the coconut shrimp. I sat down got no refill. So I asked a different lady to refill the coconut shrimp I sat back down got no refill. So I ask our waitress can we get the shrimp refilled she said oh they wont refill it because we about to start putting dinner out. We been there an hour already so why we dont have access to the foods we paid for. She just stood there so I left it alone remember there was all type of items old sitting there dried out. So I noticed they put out some boiled crawfish amd crabs so I fixed me and my sister some. I picked up 1 crawfish and the same waitress walks up and says hey u have to pay extra to eat the crab and crawfish because we are now on dinner . I was like you cannot be serious after we done ask to get items filled that was suppose to be there during lunch. She said it cost an extra $5.00 plus tax for each of us I told her noni wasnt paying that. My sister refused to pay also so she picked up all our crabs and crawfish and walked off with it . What are you gonna do now throw it away??? Do yall think they threw it away ??? How would that benefit LA STAR to throw what's already contaminated away? Why not just leave it on our table? I asked her how are we supposed to know we have to pay more for certain items on your buffet? She replied there is a sign on the glass above the area where the crawfish. I told her the only thing we looking at while we fixing our food is what the food item is in the pan. I ask why yall didn't just tell us that at the register when we paid? She jusy stood there looking stupid silent. What kind of business are you running here? I know exactly what you are doing you automatically think the customer will pay you the extra money since they are already sitting there with thier family. Not to make a scene. Its so sad this restaurant did this to us . I will never return here and I will make sure I tell everybody I see not to support this establishment. You dont do this to your paying customers. Remember please dont dine here try another asian buffet in...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLA Star ticks every box on the list of what a buffet restaurant ought to be.... actually, they go beyond that ! While they have some of the most delicious selections, they also have the kindest staff, an impeccably clean environment, and you can have just about anything your heart desires, in the way of sushi or hibachi meals ! The sushi bar is staffed with a sushi chef, who does a superb job ! The sushi is fresh, delicious & the presentation is lovely. Thereās also a hibachi area, also staffed with cooks, who will make whatever you desire, as you dictate it. Hot nā Sour Soup is my all time favorite food and I was thrilled to see a large pot of just that, at the buffet. The Hot nā Sour soup is actually the best Iāve ever had ! Iāve had a lot Hot nā Sour soup, from Colorado to Louisiana, & I thought Iād already sampled the ābestā, until we moved down here last year. This beats out any H nāS soup Iāve ever had... no exaggeration ! I recently picked up a takeout menu and discovered its quite cheap for a Lg takeout container of soup... I foresee a LOT of takeout, from LA Star, in my near future. Another big draw, for parents of little ones at least, is that the ice cream doesnāt come from a drippy old machine. They have a closed freezer with a variety of large containers of ice cream, side by side, that looks like something out of Baskin Robbins. It doesnāt look like a war zone in Candyland, as most ice cream stations in Buffet restaurants, typically do. The Wait staff are the sweetest !!!! Seriously, each interaction is such a joy. My last waitress was so sweet and paid special attention to my daughter, each time she came to our table. She even brought her an extra fortune cookie, after my daughter made sure everyone knew of her love of fortune cookies. The same waitress and I ended up in a funny back & forth, that I can onlcyc describe as a āCompliment-Offā; she has such a gracious demeanor, that she could not accept a compliment without giving one in return. LA Star, I beg of you... Please, donāt change a thing !!! We love everything about...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis place used to be great. Let me stress "used to be." There used to be a very happy middle aged Chinese man who would smile at everyone but I haven't seen him in a long time and the man who is always behind the counter now, who I'm assuming took over managing the place, is pretty rude and he closes the place very early. I gave this place several tries and after tonight, no more. I got there at 8:45, got a regular buffet to go, and some of the choices were empty, on the buffet table. I love the lo mein and it was completely empty, all that was left were a few stray noodles so I asked when would more be brought out. Rudely, he responded with, "They aren't cooking anymore. Kitchen is closed." I had already paid and he never told me that no more food would be prepared yet they still charge the full price. If this is the way it is, then 2 things need to happen. 1. Either tell the customer that no more food will be prepared (an hour and 15 minutes before the sign hanging in the window says the establishment is closed) or 2. Tell the customer #1 and inform them that they will still be charged full price and let the customer decide. Doing neither is an excellent way to lose customers, thus losing profit.
This is false advertising when the hours in the window, on the website, say they're open, as well as the neon sign blinking "OPEN" in the window, yet people have to pick at the remaining scraps on the buffet tables. That's wrong.
Not sure I'm going to give this place another chance which is sad because I loved this place ever since I was a kid, back when it was called the China Garden, then Hong Kong, now this. Darn shame it's run...
