Golden Hooks Seafood &Chicken — Restaurant in Lake Charles

Drove by at 3:25pm, 4/23/19, and tried to order drive through. Had the whole family ready to chow down on some of the great food and fried scallops I was told about. Waited at the order section, said "Hello" a few times. Then, drove to the actual window. Didn't see anyone but some girl sitting on the Inside part of the counter with her feet up. I honked once, she didn't move, so, we left. I called as soon as we left and somone answered the phone, I asked "um, are y'all open?" "They said, "Yea, we' open". I told them that we were just there and nobody answered the window service. They said, "well, we' open if you wanna come back." I can only assume that it was a lazy af employee and the manager/owner/operator was gone for the afternoon? An employee sitting with their feet up on a chair, relaxing, while people are trying to order food... Not a good business model.

Anyway, it would have been nice to try those scallops...

we were looking for a place to eat that wasn't packed so we drove around until we found Golden Hooks. It had very few cars in the parking lot so we turned in. I must say I was not impressed. The floors felt sticky when we walked to our table. The food had NO flavor at all. I had to use so much salt on my chicken tenders and fries and in the end it was still tasteless... I ended up throwing away 2 of the 3 tenders I ordered along with the soggy fries. They need to season there chicken and even season the flour they are breading in. I realize now why they were the only place at 12 noon that wasn't busy. I feel that if they were to actually season the food then this place will do pretty good because the price and the amount of food you get are a good deal and the staff is friendly. The customer service was good. The food was hot. This fish was good. However, the wings was not very good at all. They tasted like old grease, could not eat them. We also paid for an order of gizzards that we also could not eat because it was fried very hard and also tasted like old grease it was like eating extra hard fried chicken crust. The fries would have been great if they had salt on them. I wish they would have had dinner rolls with it. I was looking foward to making this place my new spot. I hope in the future that some changes be made, because the customer service alone makes me want to give it another try. I know every buisness has it's bad days so maybe it's not always like this.
