Pronia's Deli and Bakery — Restaurant in Lake Charles

Beware if you order a cake: My family has ordered cakes from Pronias for years for our celebrations and spent thousands of dollars at this business. The last cake I ordered was my last. I served the cake I ordered at my party and some of my friends and family said the cake tasted very odd. Some of the pieces did taste odd but not all of them. It was really embarrassing when people started blurting this out at the party. I call Pronias & they said they'd give me a refund. I drove 40 minutes in horrible weather on my day off to bring this cake in to them. The guy in charge of the cakes was EXTREMELY rude to me. He wouldn't let me speak and started jumping me saying his entire staff tried it and nothing was wrong with it. I saw where the "staff" tried it. It was a minuscule spot on the edge where it sat out for 4 days. I tried to explain that it was not the entire cake and that he need d to cut it. He pretty much called me a liar and was yelling at me saying he would not give me a refund because most the cake was gone. I tried to say normally when you serve cake at a party you cut a bunch of pieces to give out to your guests. He stormed off angry and was yelling begrudgingly he would give me a dozen cupcakes on the house. I told him no thanks and left. I just got screwed out of $50. (Which was the cheapest cake I've ever ordered)This situation has been so hurtful and such a slap in the face to our family with all the business we've given them. As for the cupcakes they are good since they are fresh. The cakes are frozen for who knows how long and are dry when you get them. The cakes have progressively gotten worse over the years. I will never go back to this place with the way I was treated by the guy in charge of the cakes. Beware if you order a cake and something is wrong with it because you will not get a refund and he does not care if you return. I'm the perfect example of that being the loyal...

Wonderful local deli & bakery/ family business with fresh baked goods for dessert and lunch! Limited hours: monday-friday 10a-3p and Saturday 10a-1:30p.

Location: off the main lake charles roads. Gps will take you there. 2 streets over from Common Street.

Atmosphere: clean, modern, very beautifully landscaped outside. It feels comfortable.

Service: always friendly. The few times I've been, the owner is at the middle counter and he was nice. He told us how the place came about. The lady at the cupcake counter was friendly and helpful. We ordered a cake from here and the gentleman was nice and personable.

Food: cupcakes, cookies, cakes, sandwiches (made with fresh bread), salad, pasta, pizza, etc. They also offer catering sandwich trays. Love the strawberry champagne cupcake and the lemon cookies.

Prices: mostly have bought cupcakes and felt fair for price/quality. I wanna say cupcakes are about $2 each, other lunch items will run about $10+ depending on what you get.

Man let me tell you. This is my first time coming back since it was rebuilt and I did not think it could get any better than it already was but it has. The building is beautiful inside and out. I usually only come for the cakes but today I decided to do the special and get half of a pulled pork sandwich and I have completely fallen in love. Today is my birthday and I came to get the infamous champagne cake and now I'm hooked on the sandwiches. Just great 🤣🤣. I am currently sitting in the parking lot eating bc I couldn't wait to get home. Just save yourselves the hard decisions and pick Pronias bc you will not regret it!
