Lake Charles owes us nothing but our time back from this absolutely horrible establishment of a restaurant where this mean and old hateful man thought he could getaway with telling our kids they could shut up or leave….
How many of you knew we quickly got up and left…all 35 of us!!!!
Several of us tipped the waitress who was super sweet and all she had time to do was give us drinks and take our orders!!
Mind you this was after our boys won their championship game…when we came in we told them we would have a large group of football kids the waitress was thoughtful and said she would seat us all in the back…
She knew the kids would get loud she definitely said that’s why she put us back there as she was congratulating the kids on their win…she was very pleasant ((can’t remember her name))
We didn’t let them get out of control, however it did take an hour to settle us in and even start to get drinks and orders taken…
There was a group in that room when we walked in but they had finished eating and were just sitting and mingling with each other…
They eventually left but as they were leaving one of the ladies walked over to our waitress and said to her GOOD LUCK…
Not quite sure what that meant but the waitress didn’t take it kindly as she looked confused and didn’t react to her and some other parents were offended and questioned what did she mean by good luck…almost referencing like she needed help with us!!
A few moments later this man came into the area to clean the tables from the group that left and he was literally throwing dishes so loud it sounded like they were breaking.
He then started yelling and got all of our attention for sure as he was telling our boys they could shut up or get out!!
I don’t know if he thought we would beg to stay but my husband said immediately no problem we’re out and we all followed suit…quickly!!
He continued to say mean and ugly things as we were leaving realizing he messed up because the kitchen was already preparing our order and we ordered a lot of food, obviously there 35 of us!!!!
He said we ran off the other customers from being so loud!!! We knew he was lying because they were nice, congratulated our boys and everything…I believe that one lady who may have been his regular jacked up his mind!!
Our waitress was so sweet, she was confused and looked like she wanted to cry seeing us leave!! We paid her for the drinks and tipped her well as it wasn’t her fault she would miss out!!!
The world is so small too one of my travel business partners who I didn’t see at first was in the restaurant and she said the whole parking lot cleared after we left and that he was in there trying to justify his actions but then her and husband left too!!
I wouldn’t have wanted to stay after all that… no telling what he would have done to our food, we tip well wherever we go, our kids know how to act, he missed a blessing and now I’m sharing with everyone to stay far away from this...
Read moreSeafood Palace, as I was told, is a local favourite seafood restaurant in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
Don't let the simple storefront fools you, it may not look fancy and simply a sign with the name and that's it. I always know, a hole in the wall restaurant or a mama papa shop are always the best. They don't need to put money into making the place fancy coz the food sells for itself.
The resto offers a long list of seafood. It took me a while to narrow down what I wanted to eat as I wanted to order everything on the menu coz they are either sounds delicious or sounds very unique.
The locals suggested us to order the crawfish as they said it's a MUST ORDER, this resto minimum order is 4lbs and they said 4lbs sounds alot but it isn't, since crawfish are not super big, so it's actually a normal size. We ordered a bunch of appetizers to share, such as fried green beans, fried pickles, gator bites, all delicious.
As I turned around to the table beside us, there were 8 of them and they each ordered a 4lb crawfish, and I guess that's the norm and that's how they roll here as a big family gathering. The crawfish also includes sausages and corns.
I ordered a stuffed shrimp, frog legs (yup, that's correct, I ordered frog legs) and a small chicken & sausage gumbo. They also offer shrimp gumbo but I was told the chicken & sausage gumbo is better and I was glad I ordered the chicken & sausage gumbo. There is a strong smokey aroma to the gumbo, lots of ingredients in the chicken and the sausage, coupled with the steam rice, it's a perfect combo. I was glad that I only ordered the small vs the large, coz in my opinion, the small was good enough for me. Especially if you plan to order other food items to try, small is good enough.
I enjoyed this place. It's nice and simple, casual but the food was amazing. The service was great as well. We had 12+ people and yet the server was able to write down each order perfectly and didn't mix up our order at all, that's...
Read moreThe food was delicious. Our waitress was truly busy busy busy while there were three other waitresses standing by the cash register and door to the kitchen doing nothing. One waitress came from the back dining area and asked another waitress what was she doing, she needed some help. There was definitely some tension, eyes rolled, whispers were exchanged and the waitress returned to the back dining with no one following her. Our waitress was working in the back and several tables in the front. She was moving at mock speed. Unable to get our waitress's attention before she headed to the back room numerous times, we asked one of the waitresses standing around to bring us to-go boxes, she did but with an attitude. Our waitress came, apologized that she did not get to us immediately, I noticed she had FOUR CHECKS in her hand that she was going to cash out and that did not include our table. Meanwhile the three waitresses were standing by the register clicking away on their phones. I gave our waiter a 50% tip. To the other waiting staff I do not know what goes on between staff members at this establishment but I do know as a former manager staff should work together and customer service was first. Customer service goes a long way whether it's yours or your co-workers customers. Be kind and thoughtful to one another, if your co-workers is overwhelmed, step in, if your coworker steps in to help, give him a dollar or two. Appreciation and stepping in is all part of the complete success of an establishment. Last but not least if you're not going to be part of the solution at least get out of sight of the customers so they don't see you just standing around while they are waiting...
