Last evening was a total disaster!! My two neighbors, my husband and I went to Luigi's for dinner. In the past, the previous owner, Luigi, and his lovely family ran a very respectable establishment with delicious food and exceptional service. Unfortunately, I was informed by an employee last night that Luigi no longer owns the restaurant. Now I do understand this is a very difficult time trying to employ servers, however, after my friend and I both ordered two different veal dishes, the server switched our dinners and at first were not aware because they were both covered with mozzarella cheese. We both understood that these things can happen when a server does not ask who ordered the sorrentino and the parmesano and just places them down in front of you. As we began to eat our dinners, we realized the issue, but continued to eat the food we were served because they were both very good, and we did not want to get our very pleasant server in trouble. When our dinners were finished, we decided on desserts and coffees. We realized at that point it was getting busy in the restaurant, but did not know there we're only two servers working. Half an hour after we ordered our desserts, we still had nothing on our table so we decided it was getting late, and we had to get back to our homes. My neighbor asked me if we could just get the check. When I walked over to our server and asked her for the check, I explained it was extremely late and we had to get going and apologized that we couldn't stay after 2-1/2 hrs. Our server said that was fine, and proceeded to walk toward the kitchen. I received the bill which I was holding and ready to pay when a gentleman came over to me and proceeded to bully me because we were leaving and he told me they we're not only short-staffed and running around in a crowded restaurant, but I made the servers cry. I had no idea who this gentleman was, and I asked our server if I upset her and she said no. This man was apparently named Sal, the manager / new owner, which I was advised by the server. He was rude to the point in which I explained that I am a paying customer and have his bill in my hand which I want to pay. He then turned around abruptly and walked back to the bar area. A short time later, we were waiting for our credit card to come back after paying, and Sal yelled across a crowded restaurant to my husband "do you want me to call the police?" It was obvious that this man wanted us to leave. My husband then answered to him that we were waiting for our credit card to be returned which we received shortly thereafter. I and my guests have never been so shocked and upset by this mistreatment which I believe was caused because we decided against the coffee and desserts. The server was tipped 25 percent because it was not her fault that she is so overworked. I have never complained about any establishment in the past, but I feel when people are mistreated, it should be brought to the attention of others so that they are aware it could...
Read moreFirst let me say that it pains me to make this review. I want to see restaurants succeed. However, the experience we had was just wrong on so many levels. I literally walked out saying that I would be posting this review. This was our first time back since the change of ownership. We used to frequent this establishment quite often. We will never go back and would not recommend this to anyone we know. The restaurant was mostly empty and I can see why, considering the other restaurant in town is always crowded.
To begin with, my husband ordered a beer that was flat. He was brought another one which was equally bad. I ordered chicken francaise with angel hair. My husband ordered a chicken parm sandwich. I was supposed to get soup, but our meal came out first. Not a huge deal, because I took it to go..but it's just another issue along with the others. My husband said the bread tasted like it was stale or previously frozen. My meal was ok. Waitress came by to ask if the second beer was ok and my husband told her no that it was just flat. She did not take it away, even though my husband said he would just drink his water.
Then the bill came. The beer was still on the bill-whatever. More egregious was the fact that my meal was 4 dollars higher than what was on the menu. When we questioned it, the waitress told us that the kitchen told her that it was a four dollar upcharge because I ordered angel hair. My meal came with pasta. Every restaurant I've ever been to generally serves angel hair with chicken francaise. At no point were we ever told there was an upcharge for angel hair. How absurd!
Any other restaurant would have taken the beer away and taken it off the bill and no restaurant I've ever been too would have charged more for ordering angel hair with a meal then usually comes with angel hair to begin with, especially without telling someone there would be...
