Manny's at the Lodge — Restaurant in Lakeside

I had a party of 2 here for dinner this evening after spending the day in the dunes. We were not initially greeted but eventually were told to go ahead and seat ourselves. There wasn't a sign saying such.

Once looking at the menu, we collectively thought, "Wow, the menu is very small". I figured with such a small menu, the food assuredly must be very good. I was proven incorrect.

I struggled on whether or not to give the place 2 or 3 stars, but I decided due to the relatively generous portion sizes, and the full bar and decent drinks that 3 is more fair.

We ordered "crispy calamari", Tater tots, steelhead rosoto and fettecuni Alfredo with chicken.

The calamari that was in there were good, but they were tiny little pieces. The breading was very good but there was soooooo much breading. It was totally excessive, and I ended up with half a basket of breading when the calamari was finished.

The fettuccine Alfredo was bland, and the chicken was overcooked. My partner refused to send it back, however. no one came to check on us after our food arrived.

The steelhead was very good, but the rosoto was incredibly bland. A little lemon juice, salt, and herbs could have pulled it together enough to be alright.

The Tater tots were indeed Tater tots and were good. Crispy and well seasoned.

We had a long island and an old fashioned. The long island was pretty good. The old fashioned was okay. Both were properly staught, thankfully. The drinks were competitively priced.

The atmosphere was good and had a great view. Unfortunately though, they left the back door open and so it was cold and there were flies inside as a result.

In total, It was $80 before the tip, and with the quality of food and service received, I have a hard time giving more than 2 stars, but I think 3 is probably fair.

Everyone has off days, and perhaps this was just an off day for this establishment, but my partner and I will not be back, nor will we recommend this restaurant. Definetly not worth...

I went for karaoke and a salad. Rich does a fantastic job making karaoke fun. My salad was delicious, which was good because I was really hungry. The waiter took my glass to get me more water then disappeared! I eventually got a glass of water to drink while eating my salad. All the empty tables were dirty when I got there so I had to sit at a dirty table until eventually he cleared it off. I went to the bathroom and got some paper towels and cleaned it in front of where I was sitting, it was all wet. I'm not sure if he was cooking bar food in the kitchen along with bartending. If that is the case the owners need to hire someone for the kitchen. Clearly it's too much work for one person to do a good job. He can't be in two...

They must have a new cook I've been there 3 other times and the food was very tasty. Not the case yesterday everything was so burnt and even looked bad when it was delivered if I was the server I would have been embarrassed to even serve it. I had the fish and chips the fries were cold the breading on the fish was black and super greasy I peeled it off and the cod was like rubber it was so over cooked. The club croissants were burnt the bacon was black and very greasy garlic bread so burnt I couldn't even bite it. The clan chowder had really good flavor little runny but good taste. Over all it was a waste of time...
