Went here for the $4.99 lunch special thats supposed to come with one side with beans and rice and a free soda or a beer I think. When I walked in I noticed weirdness like I was the mark. Guess they figured I had money and wouldn't say anything. Felt like they were watching what car I pulled up in. Anyhow, because I wanted to get an extra taco side all of a sudden the soda is full price and I'm being charged for a two side combo. Made no sense to me, why not just add a taco to the $4.99 combo. They waitress comes out with an attitude saying there's your soda. Which is a large soda to go that is 3/4 full of ice. I already had a 2 liter in the car. Only got soda because it supposedly came with meal. Wasn't happy with total so I asked to speak to manager ofcourse the manager doesn't come in for another hour or so. I left and called back before an hour and the same girl screams oh my God over the phone. Then all of a sudden a guy gets on the phone and says I understand what you're saying. I'll offer you a discount when you come back. Basically they are crooks are stealing your money with false advertisement too. That was my whole point. Don't fabricate my bill. The food was cold and horrible to have been just made fresh as I ordered inside the restaurant. There was only one other person in there and I see why. I said you know I'm not tipping for a to go order now. She gets an attitude and says that's ok. I guess so when you have already...
Read moreI don't know how this establishment has anything other than 1 star reviews. I visited this location with my husband and 2 children and the smell of rancid ancient cigarette smoke hit us in the face; I initially thought it was the proximity of the door to the location of their bar and so we sat down in spite of the smell (I'm not exaggerating when I say it was overpowering). The service was very slow, my husband insisted on staying because the he had already ordered our kids drinks and guacamole. We got our food and there were admittedly some parts that were good (namely the guacamole) but my actual entree was not good at all. The server was very abrupt with us and it took an eternity to get our check. In a town where there are clean, fast, yummy Mexican places to eat, I don't understand eating in a place that smells like an antique ashtray and offers subpar food. I will say that the evening we tried El Maguey, they had only been open for business for a few months, I will give them another try if only due to the fact that the location is very convenient, but if I walk in and it still smells like a bar in 1990, I won't stick...
Read moreWe always liked going here especially on live music night but we will not be back after the way we were treated last night. We had our 3 year old Granddaughter with us. We had literally just placed our order 2 minutes before. It was a very busy night and there was no way the order was even close to being prepared. My Granddaughter changed her mind on what she wanted to eat so I immediately went and found our waiter to cancel her order and change to what she wanted. He said the order has already been submitted I cannot change it . So I said ok let me speak to your manager. The manager came out with attitude and said what is the problem. I explained what the situation was and he said we will not change the order. I said ok then just cancel the entire order and we will go elsewhere. He then said with attitude ok we will change it this time but next time we will not do this. Had my Granddaughter crying because he made such a fuss over her changing her mind on what she wanted. What ever happened to good customer service? If this is how you show your appreciation for us selecting your business to dine in we will...
