This is a small, quaint restaurant nestled behind a Denny's restaurant. The decor makes you feel at home like you're visiting your mama's kitchen I was greeted with a kind smile and informed the young lady I was picking up my order. The way she said "Bobby's here" made me feel like they knew me and were eager to present me with my phone order. The young lady making my plates made sure to ask me if I needed any condiments and handed me my order with a warm smile. The cashier showed me the cakes and other baked goodies that looked, absolutely delicious. I will be trying some on my next visit when coming from Orange County. The Catfish was crispy and cooked to perfection. Perfect amount of seasoning. The Greens were well-cooked and also had a nice flavor. Packaging the Greens in a separate container was a good touch and shows you care about the presentation of your product. I also had the pleasure of indulging in the Mac and Cheese. Let me tell you, I rarely eat Mac and Cheese from restaurants. Not even African American Soul Food establishments, but this restaurant's Mac and cheese was so good. Definitely will be a go-to in my future orders. The cornbread pancakes were an additional surprise and something I had never tried before. The only 2 things I added when I got home were butter for the pancake-cornbread and lemon juice for the Catfish. The two combos came to less than $40 and were well worth it. Can't wait to try other menu items on my next visit to Lakewood, Ca.

Patty's Cakes is a Lakewood GEM! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Patty's Cakes isn't just a name, it's a full-on flavor explosion! This place quickly became my go-to spot for soul food in Lakewood. Let's start with the star of the show: the fried chicken. Crispy, juicy perfection! Every bite was seasoned just right, and the breading had that satisfying crunch. The sides are all amazing too. The collard greens were cooked low and slow, bursting with savory goodness. The red beans and rice were perfectly balanced, with tender beans and flavorful rice. Yams were candied to sweet perfection, and the dressing was like a fluffy, savory hug on a plate. I couldn't resist the mac and cheese, and it was rich and creamy, just the way I like it. But wait, there's more! Patty's also has incredible fried catfish. Golden brown on the outside and flaky on the inside, it was every bit as good as the chicken. And for dessert? Don't even get me started on the banana pudding ice cream! Creamy, dreamy, and with just the right amount of banana flavor. Oh, and did I mention they do cakes? I recently tried a slice of cake from them, and it was not only beautiful but absolutely delicious. Fresh, moist, and perfectly decorated – a crowd-pleaser for sure! Patty's Cakes is a hidden gem in Lakewood. Friendly service, amazing food, and portions that will leave you satisfied. This place gets a big thumbs up from me!

In town for work and found this place by driving by. Came next day and ordered the fried chicken combo and catfish combo. Both combos come with three meats, two sides and cornbread. Catfish was fried to perfection and seasoned perfect. That greedy spirit kicked in as soon as I got in the car and I ate one piece of fish before I made it back. Fried chicken was very good and crunch. It was fresh like the fish straight out the grease but it was still very good and didn't get soggy from being in the box. The sides were mac and cheese, collard greens twice and yams. The Mac and cheese had really good taste but the noodles were over done. The yams was missing something like a pinch of something or a toe drop I dont know but they were still good. The greens has good taste but also was missing something. Doesn't seem like they use a meat in the greens maybe that's whats missing. Got the strawberry crunch cake and that too was very good. I had to put it away before I hurt myself from glut. I'll be back and I recommend.

Walked in and a blast of heat that hit us was ridiculous no fan at the door nothin no air conditioning had to have been 118° Ordered one chicken dinner with a side of catfish and 2 PIECES of cake. Took the bag and it felt pretty light got home and opened the foam box to see a skinny wing and drum both had feathers sticken out of them opened the tiny container of collards took one bite zero flavor zero not even salted and the tiny container of Mac and cheese macaroni mush no sauce just color of cheese maybe 2 tablespoons and the very empty feeling foam box was a charred burnt flat corn cake burnt black plucked the feathers off the tiny wing and the skinny drumstick and tore skin away chicken was bloody both pieces threw everything away took a bite of banana cake tastes like box mix bite of carrot cake tastes like box mix the frosting was not homemade and the slices were so thin slivers I thought for paying $46 for this I should have at least been able to be fed or even one mouthful of edible food . I didn't have any more money to treat myself so I ended up eating a pbj and cried. Never felt so ripped off and insulted by what I was served . Oh catfish was thin and mostly breading no catfish 2 teeny skimpy razor thin 3 inch slivers seen just thin thin thin breading . Did not call to ask what's up just won't ever go back seriously though. Rip off. I ordered the food and came back and they said they gave my food away and I had already paid for it and had to wait in the oven hot store while they made what I described . Lesson learned...
