As with most of the parks in the city of Lakewood, the restrooms are clean. The fields are nice and safe. The play areas (referring to the locations where the children climb, slide, hang, play in the sand, etc.) is usually good. There are instances where the kids have gotten sand up to and onto areas it should not be. But that is to be expected with kids.

Always watch your children, not matter what park you may attend on on Earth, as some parents will shift their attention between watching their own child(ren) to doing something else that is not as important.

Do not let your kid(s) run on the cement adjacent to the sand area. Too many times have I been a witness to where kids slip and fall due to the combination of sand, cement, shoes, and less friction. One child banged their side, arm, and head pretty good.

What I can only refer to as a small banquet hall can be a great location for a small party. Please contact the location for details about using this room, but I believe it is solely for residents of the city, and must be booked well in advance, perhaps...

Also known as Pumpkin Park, San Martin Park has fabulous playgrounds with all the favorite playground equipment. You'll find a surprising variety of top-notch climbing structures including the pumpkin carriage, a pair of large horses, a castle complete with sunshades, interesting monkey bars, a spinner, chimes and more. The fenced playground has classic swings, generation swings, bucket swings and an inclusive swing. There's a playhouse to play inside or climb on, a spring rider, a rocking ship and an impressive merry-go-round that's flush with the play surface. It has a standard play structure with small slides and an angled rock wall. There are picnic tables and a combination of sand and rubber play surfaces. The posted ages for this fenced area is up to 12 years. Between this playground and the castle pumpkin area is a seasonal wading pool and grassy area with trees. There are a couple of basketball courts and fields for other sports....

Our first time to play at the refurbished park ( San Martin) It is very nice! There is soft rubber mats and plenty of fun things for the kids to play on! Pretty and so colorful. Please make sure if your child or toddler is under 5 years old, that they have adult supervision on this ride, It is a rocking ride and if a small child is not capable of balancing they could fall and get hurt. We were there on Friday Dec. 26th 2014, and a small child was allowed to climb on without parental supervision, she was under 5 years old and she fell forward and bumped her nose! So, parents need to supervise little ones. My Granddaughter cannot wait to go back! She had a great time, we did not stay long because we were passing by. But we will make a play day adventure very soon! I think we will visit again today!

San Martin Park is truly a gem in the community. The variety of play equipment is amazing — from classic swings to creative climbing structures that keep kids engaged for hours. The zipline is a favorite — always a thrill for the little ones (and even some grown-ups!), and the whimsical carriage play structure adds a magical touch that sparks imagination. What really stands out is the diversity of activities available. There’s something for every age and energy level, making it a great spot for families to come together. Parks like this are so important — not just for play, but for connection, learning, and growing. Public spaces like San Martin Park are a cornerstone of healthy, vibrant communities, and we’re lucky to have it.

San Martin Park is nice. Has a lot of grass area to run around, play soccer, football, etc. Grass even has small mounds to add hills to a run. Has two full basketball courts. Has two playgrounds one for 2-5 year Olds and one for I believe 5-12 year Olds. The 2-5 year old playground is In caged so that is nice so your child doesn't run off. Has picnic benches in the middle so the playground surrounds that area in sand with play structure, swings, and fixtures for kids to play on. The 5-12 year old area has a couple slides, fixtures, Cinderella seating area and a 5-10 foot zip line. That area also has sand for kids. Pretty cool park. Usually not too packed.

Don't laugh but my experience at this park goes back 30 years. This was the first park I took my toddler to. She loved it then and still remembers the Cinderella coaches. Yes 2 coaches. When I was visiting Lakewood I drove by this time. I heard it had been redone and was pleasantly surprised by the transformation. I was so happy to see that a Cinderella coach was incorporated in the new playground. It is a beautiful place to bring a child to make happy memories. My daughter would approve as well.
