If I could give Tavern 242 more than 5 stars, I absolutely would. From start to finish, our dining experience was a flawless 12/10. The food, the service, the atmosphere…every detail was thoughtful, welcoming, and downright impressive. We’re beyond lucky to have a restaurant of this caliber in the neighborhood!
We were especially grateful to have Isabel as our server. She was warm, attentive, and made us feel genuinely cared for. Her recommendation, the rotisserie chicken, was spot on. The skin was perfectly crispy, the meat juicy and flavorful, and cooked to perfection throughout. Isabel’s kindness and energy elevated the entire evening. She’s truly a gem, and made our experience so memorable!
My spouse ordered the pork chop and we were both blown away. The sides potatoes, broccoli, and apple compote, were so well executed they could have stood alone as a meal. Every bite was a total knockout.
We also ordered Moscow mules, and not only were they delicious and refreshing, but they were served in true copper mugs with glass straws, a classy and eco-friendly touch that didn’t go unnoticed.
As if the night couldn’t get better, Mike from the kitchen surprised us with a crème brûlée. We were already full, but this dessert was too good to pass up. We ate every bite!! Hands down the best crème brûlée we’ve ever had, and we don’t say that lightly.
What amazed us even more was the incredible value. For two upscale meals, cocktails, and a truly elevated experience, the final bill felt like a steal. If you’re looking for fine-dining quality food, impeccable service, and cozy neighborhood charm, without the fine-dining price tag, this is the place.
Tavern 242 is now our go-to spot, and we’ll be bringing every guest who visits. A huge thank you to Isabel, Mike, and the entire team for making our first visit so memorable. We can’t wait to return, and we’ll be shouting your praises to anyone who...
Read moreWowow! Happened to drive by and noticed they looked open, so I called to confirm, and was informed that they were in their ‘soft opening phase’. Headed back by for dinner tonight and was wildly impressed.
After eating here, I cannot even express how grateful I am to have this spot on this side of town! It’s a really nice atmosphere; somewhere you’d want to go on a date or bring the family for an enjoyable dinner, or be proud to bring out-of-town visitors to, but they also have the baseball and hockey games above a big, welcoming bar.
The food menu is creative, elevated, thoughtful, and very obviously uses quality ingredients. We ordered a few things off the menu, and everything was INCREDIBLE. (get the fries no matter what, trust me.) The cocktail menu/bar looked equally as thoughtful, and the Lavender Collins was delicious.
The owners are very present, taking the time to mingle with all of their guests during the time we were there. This is such a classy touch, and something I really admire. Not once did we feel rushed, or like any of our interactions with staff were ‘transactional’. Very genuine vibe. It’s clear that the owners know what they’re doing with this place, and for that, it will proudly be our new neighborhood spot. This side of town NEEDED this!

Read moreWOW. That’s where we have to start. My son and I first spotted Tavern 242 on a trip to Home Depot and decided to stop in for lunch. From the moment we walked in, it was flawless. The staff delivered top-tier service. The menu was fresh and creative. And the food? Outstanding. My Cajun pasta was spot-on, and my son’s half chicken was perfectly done. The beer ricked too.
The very next day, my wife agreed to try takeout with me, same story. Impeccable staff. Exceptional food. Today, we went back again for the full chicken, fried avocado, and more. Every bite impressed. The staff is fun, friendly and the atmosphere is awesome.
Lakewood desperately needed this place. Now there’s no reason to drive to Morrison for great food, in our opinion, Tavern 242 is far better than any Morrison restaurant. Get there now, because once the road construction wraps up, it’s going to be packed always.
Our only wish was they had outdoor seating. But who knows what the future holds.
