This place was just truly awesome. I really enjoyed every single item I had from them, and I don’t even eat Cuban food that often. It’s a real treat. I tried a wide assortment of delicious items. I tried a malteada, beef and cheese empanada, Jamaican beef patty, ropa vieja, and rice and beans.
The two empanadas were incredible. They were crispy on the outside, very crunchy. Delicious stuffing. Very meaty and fresh. The cheese had a nice saltiness to it, and was also delicious. Stuffed to the brim. I loved it and would definitely recommend. Oh, and they were pretty huge, too.
The Jamaican patty was quite spicy. I was surprised by how tasty this was. Perhaps a tad bit dry on the edges, but the stuffing was really tasty. Similar to the beef and cheese empanadas but with a different, flakier encasing.
The ropa vieja was fantastic. The meat was so tender and perfectly cooked. It was juicy and flavorful. I would 100% recommend it. The meat went perfectly with the flavorful rice and beans, which soaked up the delicious meat juices perfectly.
Finally, this was my first time trying a malteada. It’s kind of hard to describe this drink, a bit like caramel? It is very sweet but still quite enjoyable. Id say it’s not my favorite drink, and the smoothies are probably better in my opinion, but it was still nice to try.
All in all, I would for certain recommend this place. The meat is amazing, empanadas are fantastic, sides are stellar…what’s not to love? Prices are amazing and portions are too. I’d definitely come back here next time I’m...
Read moreThis is one of those places that you can tell reads their reviews and improves. When I first went to this place I (when it first opened) I thought it was good. A couple of months later I went back (just last night) and can see so many changes. The salad used to be blander but now it has a great dressing. The ropa vieja with the black bean rice is my absolute favorite. The Yuca (which if you have had it, doesn't usually have a lot of flavor) is great! it has a great flavor that isn't overbearing and it isn't dry like other places I've been to. This cuban restaurant is unlike other places because it doesn't rely heavily on food coloring or other products you may see in other carribean latin cuisines, but the flavor definitely still back's it up.
The desserts are something to try as well. The smoothies! They are so Good. My favorite is the Guanabana smoothie.
Also, don't sleep on the famous cuban sandwich.
Location: everyone around here knows that this location isn't ideal and lots of businesses have flopped but I am hoping that this restaurant stays for a verrry long time as they are making an effort to make it different. They are great. They have a small parking lot and when it's nice out, they have a cute little...
Read moreI found this little Cuban restaurant by accident while on an errand. I stopped with my daughter and she had her first espresso while we waited for our Cuban sandwich and smoothies. First, the espresso was delicious. We were intrigued by the smoothie flavor offerings and there was barely enough for my husband and son to sample by the time we got home as Gretchen drank more than her share on the ride home. Gretchen’s response on the sandwich, “OMG, it is huge, warm, and toasty! Yum!” We stopped back later that day and tried a variety of the dinner combos with the different sides to get a taste of the menu. Desserts were also a hit. Apparently they have stands at the Farmers Markets in Central Lancaster, Carlisle, Harrisburg, etc. Another couple mentioned they came from Carlisle to get the soup. That will be my next visit as I love a good soup. I recommend adding this one to your list of places to check out!
