Mediocre food, overpriced, and slow service.
When you first enter the restaurant there is no greeter, only a sign saying around the lines of “please wait to be seated”. My party of four stood by the front doors for about two minutes until we were asked about reservations and seated.
The floor staff seemed to avoid our table, (experience of dining together has shown many wait staff tend to avoid younger patrons probably under the assumption they will not tip as well as older patrons), and it took nearly 15 minutes for a waiter to arrive to ask for drinks. Three of us wanted an alcoholic drink but the tables did not have drink menus or a draft list. 30 minutes after being seated we placed drink and appetizer orders only to wait another 15 minutes until either arrived. The only positive I experienced was our waiter had the knowledge to make drink recommendations and offered beer samples. Disappointingly, a friend ordered a mojito only to learn the restaurant did not have any mint as they could not grow it during the winter, (why they would not buy mint or remove the drink baffles me).
I had to ask to order food as the waiter tried to quickly leave after delivering the drinks and appetizers. I gave the restaurant 1/5 stars on the review simply because of the quality of food, the prices, and the speed of service, although there were some affordable options on the menu. Our party ordered crab cakes, mussels and spaghetti, tortellini, and a crab dip burger. Personally, I orders the crab cakes which were $28 and came with two crab cakes made of small chucks of crab and filled with what I assumed to be some type of rice. The crab cakes were worse than what you could buy pre-made at a supermarket, and heavily overshadowed by $1 crab balls I frequently buy at an indoor flea market. Overall, I heard complaints of dissatisfaction among everyone in the party on their food. I would equate the quality of the food to be lower than most diners.
One of few upsides to the whole dining experience was the food arrived within 30 minutes of placing the order. We were all very disappointed with the atmosphere of the restaurant, the quality of food, and the service received. Under new management, this historic building could compete with The First Post, but until the food and service are overhauled the restaurant is sure to disappoint, (I actually felt the need to apologize for suggesting this restaurant for a Valentines...
Read moreFirst timer; mixed review. We went there to see one of the comedy shows; got there early so we could get dinner and a table. 3 servers working, and they were quite busy, so it took a little bit to get seated and to get our drink order in. There was a nice jazz quartet playing... it was nice to see a different genre of music during happy hour vs a lone musician. Ordered "The Boss" burger and the BLT Tuna Wrap. The server never asked for burger temperature; it came out well done (would have preferred Medium if they had asked). The BLT tuna wrap had heat to it - not a heat from peppers, but something else... Ate half, brought the other half home. Review of environment was mixed - Building looked nice and well maintained, but the we could see the seats had vinyl torn from them. We had two servers stop by to see if we had our drink order - not sure it that was because there were not assigned tables, or the 2nd server had noticed we were there for a bit and our table was still empty (as a good person in the service industry would), so.... I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. During the comedy show, there was music in the background, coming from the back of the house (every time the kitchen doors opened, the volume increased). When we brought it up to two employees, one apologized, and one insisted there was no radio in his kitchen. I said to him again my concern, and he repeated his response. I guess his logic was that the music was coming from a cell phone, so it didn't qualify as a radio Would we be back? Unsure. Two of the main draws of a restaurant are quality and service. I've already...
Read moreSo we visited Dutch Wonderland in Lancaster, PA earlier in the day on Sunday. The food inside the theme park was terrible, so we needed some great food to make up for that part of Dutch Wonderland 🤣
When we got there it was already dark out and was actually colder inside the restaurant than outside so we decided to sit outside which was fine because they have a beautiful outdoor seating area that overlooks the Conestoga River.
Our waitress was so nice and took her time explaining some items on the menu and how they could accommodate one of our daughter’s allergies. The food began coming out and the cheese sticks came first with the perfect crunchy outside and gooey cheesy inside that made for the perfect cheese pull. I haven’t begun filming myself yet so those small details being captures on film for the public to see will have to be saved for a later date. Our 4 year old said her personal pizza was excellent and she ended up eating it all so that speaks volumes. Our 9 year old got a burger patty, steamed broccoli, and orange slices and proclaimed, “This is the best burger I’ve ever had!” Success! My wife ordered a pizza and didn’t realize she had ordered a whole pie, but it was a mix of veggies and pepperoni and she loved it! Said it was very tasty. I got a personal flatbread pizza that was originally supposed to have pepperoni, sausage, ham, and bacon. I personally am not a big fan of ham or bacon on pizza so I asked for extra sausage and pepperoni and they absolutely delivered! One of the best pizzas I’ve had! Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Lancaster, PA.
