OVERALL: This dive DID NOT disappoint!!
I ordered a few things and hit up a friend to help. The oxtails were reported to be tender and welll seasoned as was the chicken wings (plain fried and dusted with their signature Shark seasoning). In fact, the consensus on those wings (and you get a whole chicken wing not pieces) was "damn good"!
I had the brown stew snapper with cabbage and greens and a side of rice and peas. I also tried the 6 piece shrimp basket (you know I gotta give y'all options!!) Don't order the snapper if you're hungry now because they cook it to order and that takes about an hour. But it is absolutely worth the wait and the price. Plus the portions are large enough to have each entree twice. Had mine for lunch the next day! The shrimp had an interesting flavor and texture. crispy but not overcooked. The fries were the low point if the evening and if you get the food to go or delivered, don't bother. Ask to sub it with those savory turnip greens or succulent cabbage. I tried both deserts they had on had (not pictured). The chess pie was very tasty; the pecan left me looking for something but a good pecan pie is a precious rarity anywhere.
All in all I will Certainly return to Sharks Lancaster!
P.S. Look out for my upcoming review to see who does brown stew snapper the best in Dallas Co. I'm putting Sharks against Taste of Jamaica. The winner will compete with Heroes for the title of BEST BROWN STEW SNAPPER...
Read moreI ordered the Jerk Chicken, Curried Goat, Ox Tails, Jamaican Rice, Cabbage, Greens, and Peas; so my friends and I could try them out since there aren't alot of Authentic Caribbean options around. With the exception of the chicken (which I found dry, but that's a preference issue,) the food was pretty good. I was hesitant about the Ox Tails because not everyone can cook them to my satisfaction, you know... "like Grandma used to make," but oh my these were a gelatinous concoction of fall off the bone heavenly goodness (feel free to quote me lol) I could not get enough. I really liked the veggies although I found nothing special about the cabbage or greens. The peas were a bit salty (again a preference issue), but went well with the rice which if not for the way they were prepared would've been perfect. The issue I have with the rice is that I thought I was going to choke to death on a tree branch my first time trying it. The cook does not trim or remove the spices from the stalks. One of these said slalks became lodge in my unsuspecting throat. Needless to say, once the choking was dealt with, I was done eating the rest of that particular meal. Thing it was a fluke, I ordered it again but was a bit mor careful when I ate it. The second time around, I ended up finding 3 more stalks in the rice. However, I would definitely go back... in...
Read moreSo I moved out here from New York in June & I’ve been looking for the right spot, with the best food & customer service. & I think it’s safe to say I found that. First thing, they where very polite. Very welcoming. I ordered oxtail w rice/peas & cabbage w extra gravy, the women who cashed me out wish I could’ve caught her name was super nice. Showed me how fully portioned my plate was. I told her that it was my first time trying Sharks & she responded “well your going to love it” & man was she right. The oxtail was very meaty. NOT fatty. Super tender, it fell off the bone. Full of so much flavor. The cabbage was cooked to perfection, again full of flavor. & to top it off my rice & peas was also perfect. I will definitely be stopping by again. Oh & they have my favorite juices, tropical rhythms. But over all I was very impressed. I can’t wait to try other things on there menu!! Thank you so much for giving me a great experience & satisfying my craving! I definitely will be seeing...
