It was a memorable lunch experience! It was even more special sharing it with a friend. We were able to share a number of tasty items together. They have quite a few unique and creative specialty rolls. It would have been difficult to choose just one.
First of all, the restaurant is so elegantly decorated. I didn't get the lighting aesthetics from the mounted decorative wall fixtures that you would get at night. With that said, the ambiance is still very pleasing in the daytime. The music is a nice selection, and there were many people seated at 1:30pm on a weekday. They have limited private booth seating that was already taken. I was happy to get seating near the sushi bar in the natural light. It's best for picture taking.
We decided to order from the dinner menu. They have some great items for lunch, but I was there for the specialty sushi and desserts. We started with the Karaage Chicken and Baked Mussels. I love the way they prepare the mussels. The flavors were amazing! The chicken was very peppery, but not in a spicy way. It could have used a little more salt to balance it out. It was good with the sauce, but I felt like it really needed the sauce. If that makes sense. I think the star of the show for me was actually the sushi rolls. I picked the Spicy Bluefin Tuna Roll, and my friend chose the Butterfly Roll. Both were equally tasty. I loved the addition of black garlic aioli on the Bluefin tuna roll. Everything on that roll blended together so well (including the cilantro). Both rolls had a very good amount of sushi, and the construction and artful presentation made them even better. The smoked salmon in the Butterfly roll had a light smokiness that didn't overpower the other ingredients. It was perfect. There was no cream cheese hiding any of the taste. I was thankful for that.
Finally, the desserts were bursting with flavor. The Ube Cheesecake was light and you could definitely taste the purple yam. The Ginger-Yuzu Crème Brûlée had a nice burst of ginger as well as a light citrusy finish. It was creamy, and I loved the hardened candied ginger caramelized topping. All I can say is that you need to be a fan of ginger. Others may not share my love of it.
Honestly, I can't wait to go back and try more items. I'm still thinking about all the flavors. Yes, some of the rolls are a little pricey. Especially the Bluefin ones, but it was worth it IMO. It was an early birthday treat to myself. Hey, we have to treat ourselves every now & then. It's therapy...
Read moreI came from Virginia to visit Florida. When we first arrived it had very upbeat music. This place has an upbeat vibe. Personally I prefer quiet serenic music.
The waiters seem professional, they help you immediately, no issues with wait time. We got seated almost immediately. The waiters always asked if we were enjoying
Our waiter was Tim, He was awesome!
The main issue would have to be the food. This is a Japanese cuisine restaurant but it does not taste like it. The food was made for instagram photos. Presentation over taste. For appetizers we ordered their karage, skewers, and squid.
The karage looked amazing but it was slightly burnt and it was mainly breading almost no chicken. Over seasoned on top to look good not taste good.
The squid legs were burnt as well and overall did not taste good.
The skewers were somewhat good but the meat had too much sauce and it ended up being really salty.
We ordered the sushi, I personally ordered the spider roll. The sushi was not bad, I would say it tasted okay. The rolls are larger than normal which makes it hard to eat it all in one bite. I’ve had better in Virginia but I cannot compare it to other stores in this area. I did not try their sashimi. I went to a revolving sushi bar in California and i stuffed my mouth the the sushi was subpar. For this place I had trouble finishing my sushi. The texture was slimy…
Other negative thoughts: The Soysauce bottle is stupid. Should’ve just used a regular one not a glass jar with a cork. More for looks than practicality
Other positive thoughts: Gave us warm towels to clean up in cool cylinder wood things. That was cool.
Overall: Presentation: 4.5/5 Service:4.5/5 Taste: 1/5 average: 3.3/5
Would I go here again? Yes to post food on insta, but not unless I get invited here. The food just didn’t meet my...
Read moreIf I could leave a zero star on here I would the customer service was atrocious. Today at 12:45pm on Friday 09/04/24. My sister and I were dinning here and when I went to use the soy sauce and it spilled all over me and this was the second time this has happened to me at this restaurant. Standing up looking around for someone to come help, clothes from waist to feet down was soaking wet in soy sauce. I asked for help multiple times aloud and after 3 minutes of me grabbing napkins myself from the bar to clean myself still no one came to help. I observed four waiters running back and fourth to help their tables then the manager laughing with the cooks in the prep area. I walked up very upset and frustrated explaining to the manager the soy sauce spilled and this was the second time this happened to me. I owned that I did say one curse word during explaining how frustrated I was. She immediately started coming at my about how everyone knows to take the top of the soy sauce off and I should have known that. I’m explaining to her this happened previously at this restaurant and even that time no one had ever told us that. She continues to say it’s very obvious and just starts cleaning my table. Not once offering something to clean myself with no apology and even starts smirking as she made me feel stupid for this incident happening. My sister came back from outside and witnessed her behavior and we decided to leave on the spot. This is the second outfit the has been ruined from this restaurant, both times the managers were terrible with no apology or offering any support to me. No descelation skills, management skills or even empathy for the situation at hand. I don’t care how good the food is, we will never step back in this restaurant. If the management stay, this restaurant won’t make it...
