I grew up with Indian food made by Indian people, as well as similar dishes made by Pakistani friends and family. Biryani is specifically one of my favorite dishes, both the Indian and Pakistani versions. My husband has been to India and loves the cuisine too. But sadly this was my least favorite version of Biryani. I've actually never had Biryani I didn't love until I had it here. The rice was mushy and I noticed the Basmati rice was cut with other rice grain types, a huge disappointment knowing how Biryani is supposed to be. The flavors were off and not spicy enough, my cat who usually avoids any spice loved the lamb, which I guess is a plus because I love to treat her. We also had a weird experience where, when we received our Saag Paneer, they immediately asked if they could take it back, but it was then promptly brought back to us when we confirmed we had ordered Saag Paneer (at this time we assumed it was Paneer, because that's what we ordered, what they verbally confirmed, and what was on our check). When we tried it, it was a weird Saagwala type dish, entirely lamb, which was what our Biryani was, so way too much lamb for dinner. We were already eating it when we realized there was indeed no Paneer in it, and felt awkward about what happened so we didn't send it back. I also have a feeling it was the nice server guy who tried to bring it back but I heard someone in the kitchen say no and send him back, maybe they were confident it was what we ordered? I'm willing to bet some reviewers here have never had much Indian food before. I'm rooting for them, just as I rooted for the family that owned the Chuckwagon. I don't think I will spend $50 here again but if I have a random craving for samosas I may go back. Even then, they were lacking in the rich flavors of cumin, coriander, turmeric, etc. Sorry guys, I'm not a crazy disgruntled customer I was just excited and hankering for the cuisine but my expectations weren't met. Three stars and no less because I don't want to hurt ratings for people who seem to really like the food here, I can see I'm the odd one...
Read moreI’ll leave my old review up, but I need to update it. We went to Buffalo Indian again, and I hate to report, but it was awful. The food took forever to come out (they really prioritize pick up orders). The service was slow and we only saw our server once. One of the workers (front of house manger?) was super unhelpful- I ordered mild chicken Tikka (which I’m pretty sure was not chicken tikka and definitely not mild) and my partner got her dish with the wrong protein… instead of immediately remaking the dish, the person asked if she was vegetarian… so she was shamed into eating the wrong meal. I tried to ask if I got the wrong dish, to which she got a menu and repeatedly told me I ordered “this” while poking at the menu. The food was not only incorrect, but it just wasn’t good. The chicken was somehow mealy and dry, and the tikka sauce is literally just their butter sauce (according to the manager). I think it’s great for Laramie to have an Indian restaurant, but this is not acceptable. The food is so expensive there, it’s not worth getting bad service, incorrect dishes, and inconsiderate people. For the price of our meal we could have eaten anywhere in Laramie, and anywhere else would have been a much better experience.
——————————————————————— The food is really good. I’m not the most adventurous eater, so I always just get the butter chicken and naan. It’s super good, I get mine nice and mild (cause I’m a baby I guess) and it’s always hot and delicious. The dining room is really uncomfortable, tables are old school diner booths- aka, small and rock hard. The food is expensive, but it’s a nice treat. Service is always decent- it seems like they give you your space, wish they’d come around a little more often. All in all,...
Read more#BuffaloIndianRestaurant is a culinary gem located in Laramie. Amazing Indian cuisine with some very special dishes, Some of which I’d never seen before. My husband also raved about our visit and would give it 6 out of 5 stars. For appetizer we had #Momo Which are chicken Dumplings of Himalayan Origin. While they are typical dumplings, the dipping sauce really makes them unique and special. It’s a Sesame-Tomato Sauce that has wonderful unique Indian flavors. The awesome sauce complimented the juicy dumplings well. We then enjoyed the #tomatoCoconutSoup it was a wonderful chef special. Lovely tomato flavors with great Indian spices. It’s like an Indian amped up tomato soup with sweet creamy coconut, instead of heavy cream. For mains we shared a lovely #MangoLambCurry A Classic Indian Curry Cooked in Spiced Mango Sauce with a touch of Fresh-Grated Ginger. It was tasty and the mango gave it great sweetness that went well with the luscious lamb and curry sauce. We also shared a #ChickenBiryani Steam Cooked rice Sauteed with Onion, Ginger, Coriander and Biryani Spices. It’s served with Raita. It’s one of south Asia’s favorite dishes and I see why. Both of our mains we opted for 4 out of 5 stars of heat, 5 being traditional Indian spicy. The 4 is very spicy. Most places 4 isn’t really that spicy compared to traditional Indian spicy however Buffalo Indian Restaurant does spice traditionally so a 4 is very spicy. My husband went with a lovely #MangoLassi which helped calm the flames of the spicy meal. We also ended with a traditional Indian #MasalaChai Tea made with Milk and spices it was a Lovely way to end an incredible meal. We had enough to take leftovers home for another meal. When we visit Laramie, Wyoming we will...
