I was very disappointed with my most recent visit here. It was probably busier than normal since it was a Wednesday (deal day), and I’m guessing they’re currently short-staffed since they’re hiring, but it didn’t excuse our experience. Only reason for two stars instead of one is because most of the food was good (don’t order the cheese wontons though). So, we put in our order, and after a decent wait, food came out, except one roll was missing, and we had a random extra sashimi. The waitress didn’t tell us what any of them were (definitely going to make sure any future sushi orders we ask, because other restaurants I’ve been to always do a run-through). We thought the roll was just delayed. After a few minutes of confusion, we flagged her down for a menu to try and figure out what was what. She brought us our original order sheets, so it was crystal clear what we ordered (almost, they tempura fried a tuna roll, who the heck does that, because we didn’t order it that way, and that was not what the menu said)... and when she went back to present the cook with the mistakes, he said he got it right and too bad. So ultimately we were charged for a calimari roll we never ordered, and never received, a fried California roll was never delivered that we did order, but wasn’t on the bill, and a random sashimi was brought out we didn’t order, nor did we eat it. After our waitress told us the cook said he did nothing wrong she avoided our table the rest of the night, until with empty water glasses, we had to flag her down for the check. It honestly seemed like she was overworked (only waitress in the whole restaurant on a busier night), and maybe scared to confront the cook again? That’s what I’m hoping for almost, otherwise she was just 100% indifferent to providing decent/honest service. If the cook is that rude/mean, I’m not surprised they’re...
Read moreNot if you value basic decency, the woman refused to sell me rice, either cooked or uncooked, because "we don't do that here". Even after I had explained I was at the hotel next door and my cars drivetrain failed catastrophically, some veggies I had in a cooler without ice for about 2 days needed to be used. I asked responded "you don't sell rice here?" "we do." "I just want to buy some rice, I don't understand why you wont sell me some rice?" Her response- "I am busy, I have food to make!" as she flicked a ticket in her hand with emphasis. She then turned and walked away. A sushi place whom I had 0 patrons at the moment and does not deliver. I am baffled, I know I made sure she understood I was trying to buy it. 20 seconds of work, for like $5 for the most abundant and cheapest foodstock she had. Maybe her car had blown up on the highway too and my misfortune had been a reminder? She understood and refused, I maintained an excessively polite exchange throughout. She just decided she didn't like some guy who wanted to buy rice for himself and his dog. I honestly cannot comprehend this, its nonsensical every way...
Read moreAlways driven past the place, finally decided to stop in and I was so glad we did! My friends and I were instantly charmed with the dining pits, as we called them - booths that were surrounded by a raised platform that acted as the seats. Very cozy and comfortable. We started off with gyoza and jalapeno cheese wontons. Gyoza was pretty standard fare, good but not super remarkable. The wontons though, those were delicious. Not super spicy, and not strongly flavored with the pepper, so it was really adaptable to the soy sauce. I had the spicy chicken lunch bento, and it was awesome! The chicken was a comfortable level for me, so I'd say moderate spice fabs would enjoy the heat, and it was flavorful. The tempura veggies were crispy and sweet, rice was well cooked, and the cali roll pieces were fresh and tasty. I tried a bit of bulgogi off my friend's bento, and it was so good! A little sweet, a little savory, all delicious! We will definitely be coming back, and...
