Tips From A BellmanTips From A Bellman
After seeing so many people commenting on foodie pages on Facebook and on Yelp , I finally tried this place out. Unfortunately I wasn't too hungry , otherwise I would have gotten the 3 Meat Plate so I could try several things , but I've been craving a Carolina Pulled Pork Sandwich for a while now and decided to try theirs. I grew up in the Carolinas and love a good whole hog pulled pork sandwich , but I know no one in town does whole hog bbq. Anyway , the sandwich I got was very large , but also $18.00 , so I would expect it to be a good size. It was topped with coleslaw and luckily I asked the guy when he gave me my food if there was a Carolina Vinegar Sauce in the bag and there wasn't , so he gave me one. I also got the Meaty Beans. When I was waiting for my order the lady at the register gave me and two others waiting a sample of a drink , but didn't tell us what it was till I asked the guy and he said it was cantaloupe juice. It was not bad. Now I first tried the pulled pork meat with no slaw or sauce to check the flavor of the meat , no smoke , no spice , just bland. The Carolina Vinegar Sauce was spot on , but I could have used two for the sandwich. The Coleslaw was crisp , but bland also. The bread was fresh and held the sandwich together well. The Meaty Beans were a disappointment too. The Brisket pieces inside were smokey and had flavor like it should , but the beans were not very tasty and could have been cooked a touch more. It also came with a couple pieces of pickles in a small container and they were just regular not garlic or spiced. I was also surprised that on the wall they have a ton of military patches and pictures , but don't offer a Military Discount. That just seems odd of a business to support Veterans , but not offer like a 10 % Discount like many other Bbq restaurants do. I don't get in this area very often , but I would like to try it again for the Ribs and Brisket. I love bbq from all regions and have lived in Texas , Nevada , and the Carolinas , so I've had so much over the years. I've tried almost every bbq place in town since 1991 and love to experience new places.

I have been back a couple times now, and still have not had an item that was not absolutely stellar. Incredible food, hospitality, and people are what make this place so easy to drive 20 minutes for over and over again. I love that they are a little agnostic about region/style, and have some asian influences throughout the menu. I like this bc they are prioritizing flavor/ creativity over tradition. Walk in, greeted with a complimentary cup of cantaloupe juice. They offer giant glass jars of it if you stay and eat outside - also complimentary. The tri-tip, pastrami, poblano & cheese sausage were all incredible and I would absolutely order again. The pulled-pork sandwich "Carolina-style" was huge and easily feeds two or more depending on if you want to order anything else. Their coleslaw is classic and very tasty, and not soggy. So you can tell it's freshly made. The Mac n cheese has a velvety texture with good flavor. Dusted with flaming hot Cheeto dust. The Mexican Corn Salad was also very good and packed with flavor. Also, every order comes with their homemade pickles, which have a great crunch to them. Their muffins are gluten free and still yummy - impressive! And if they still have it when you get there, you will get a free container of their bbq hash and rice. Don't ask me what is in it, but it is yummy and I cannot believe they give it out for free! THE DAN DAN BURGER (Thursdays only until sold-out) - one bite into this and it was declared my favorite burger. It is a life-altering, core memory, experience. You have not lived until you enjoy this burger. Its simplicity really makes it extraordinary because it highlights the quality of each ingredient. Its so good that I only want to go to this place on Thursdays, but I know I need to try the specials they have on other days... miso salmon... beef ribs... brisket melt... etc. 10/10 recommend. **If for whatever reason you have a less than 5-star experience, tell the owners, let them make it right, and go back a second time. A small business trying to survive deserves a little grace and a second chance... don't be a review bully**

We’ve eaten here twice now, and interestingly, we liked completely different things each time. Both visits were good, but consistency seems to be a bit hit-or-miss depending on what you order. The Standouts: • Pastrami, Smoked Turkey Breast, & Brisket – The best three items we tried. Not the best BBQ I’ve ever had, but for Las Vegas, these were pretty great. The turkey was surprisingly flavorful, and the pastrami had a nice depth to it. • Pulled Pork – Just shy of making the top three but still a solid choice. Hit-or-Miss: • Burnt Ends – These were fantastic on our first visit, but this time, they were overcooked and tough. Normally my favorite BBQ item, but every place has an off day. • Beef Rib – Super tender, which was a win, but the flavor felt a little flat compared to our first visit. It just didn’t stand out against the pastrami, turkey, and brisket this time. The Sides & Extras: • Poblano Cornbread Muffins – Moist, flavorful, and a great way to balance out the richness of the BBQ. • Potato Salad & Mac & Cheese – Both were excellent. Creamy, flavorful, and exactly what you want from classic BBQ sides. • Beans – Just okay. Nothing special, but not bad either. Dessert: • Chocolate Texas Sheet Cake – Decent but not memorable. In hindsight, I wish we had tried the Buttermilk Chess Pie—the table next to us ordered it, and it looked fantastic. Good to Know: Wild Fig BBQ is strictly outdoor picnic table seating or takeout only, so plan accordingly. Great for a casual meal, but maybe not the best spot if you’re looking for a traditional sit-down experience. Final Thoughts: Wild Fig BBQ has some real high points, but consistency varies depending on what you order. I’m giving it 5 stars based on what we liked across both experiences. Worth visiting if you’re in the mood for BBQ, and if you do, definitely go for the turkey, pastrami, or brisket. And maybe take a gamble on the chess pie!

Worst place to spend your dollars. Scammed out of my money and no food. Run.

On May 10th at about 3:30pm give or take I placed an order for numerous items I have never been to this restaurant, but the wife read some reviews and was willing to give it a shot, we like to try new places as we are big foodies. So, I placed an order for pickup from their website NOT Uber Eats or Door Dash directly on their website (This bit comes in handy later). What I ordered: 1 Fruit Cup: $5.00 1 Dan Dan Burger with options $9.00 4 Old Bay Fries $20.00 1 Breakfast Sandwich $16.00 1 Brisket Melt $14.00 2 Texas Sheets $10.00 1 Jumbo Beef Rib $40.00 Total: $133.55 including tips for my pickup order.

I know it’s a lot of food 😊 But we are feeding a family of 4 (teenage boys) and we wanted to try a lot of items on their menu haha. First time there, you how that goes etc.

5 mins into the order being placed and confirmed, on their website. I get a call from someone from the store, a manager maybe and he goes on to tell me, what I ordered cannot be fulfilled because they only serve The Dan Dan burger and Brisket Melt on certain days and I do know it is Saturday.

He said that to me like I should have known not to order those items. I replied, oh I just ordered right on your website, it did not show out of stock or do not order to me or stop me, as a matter of fact there were some other items we wanted to add to our order but your website did not allow us to add as those were out of stock so why not these items I replied.

Long story short, he said well we cannot fulfill parts of your order. So going with his vibe I just replied with ok that is kind of a chunk off the list so let’s just cancel the order and we will be square. Sure, Chris, he replied. Your order will be canceled and a full refund we will be issued since we cannot fulfill it.

I called back to inquire as to a cancellation notice as I received another email from the store saying my order was ready etc. I called back and after painfully trying to get a hold of someone the same person said disregard that email. Your order was canceled and there is nothing to pick up. Expect your refund in X business days. Feeling the loop closed, I exchange pleasantries and get off the phone.

Fast forward X business days, and what do I see is a refund of $119 which is less than what I paid for an order that was canceled and never received. Reached out to identify why the lesser amount, but as usual impossible to get a hold of anyone there and no call backs, I eventually gave up.

But I wanted to share my sentiment with the public. This is a shady way to do business and to treat customers. First, they offer something they cannot fulfill then they screw you on your refund. This is a scam. If this is done to just 10 customers in a week and so on, you do the math.

So, they get a Big O (Zero)0 from me. You get one opportunity to impress and leave a good impression. My opinion of this interaction/establishment tells me that they scam others like they did me and potentially not just in monetary concerns but other areas as well. I am first in line to support well deserving businesses, the local the better, but in turn, businesses should get their acts together and more importantly not scam its patrons.

Thanks for...
