Food is great. Customer service skills are ZERO. Ordered food on the phone for carry out. When I got there, I stood at the hostess stand solidly for 5+ minutes while 4 wait staff & a bartender either looked at me or walked directly past me. Not a single one of them asked if I had been helped or simply said “someone will be with you in a moment”. I work in customer service, I have absolutely zero issue waiting as long as I’m acknowledged.. (food was obviously ready, sitting there boxed & bagged up) Finally a girl about my age, assumingly “Beth” who took my order(mid 20s) appears out of the back & asks my name on the order & then she says “your food is ready” (oh, really?) but I said “yeah” & held out my card to her. She said “well don’t you want to see it first?” I said “is there a reason it would be wrong?” She said, with fast attitude “its our policy to show it to you, you alright?” I said “yeah, are you?” She ran my card, & proceeded to refrain from her supposed “policy” of showing me the food (my mistake, they forgot the beans) She gave my card & receipt to sign & said, again with attitude “have a nice night” I almost let it go, but working in customer service I have people practically bash me over the head with a hammer & while I am AT MY JOB, like a GOOD EMPLOYEE, I maintain a smile & gracious attitude. I said to her “I waited here for 5 minutes while not a single person acknowledged-“ She cut me off “can’t you see how busy we are?? Can’t you have some patience??” (1st of all they weren’t that busy, 2nd are all of you really THAT busy you can’t acknowledge the customer?) I again repeated my frustration was that I went totally unacknowledged. She said “buh-bye” & waved her hand at me. REALLY? LOL the audacity is astounding
YOU COULD HAVE TOLD ME IT WOULD BE 15 MINUTES BEFORE YOU HELPED ME JUST SOMEONE ACKNOWLEDGE THE CUSTOMER..... COMMON SENSE BUT...
Read moreThe food here is pretty amazing! They have more options on the menu beyond just what kind of meat you want because they have plenty of fresh veggies depending on your preferences. I had the Soy Y Luna enchiladas and my wife has tamales. Both were a few notches above what you would expect from most Mexican restaurants. The entrees look beautiful and you can taste the higher quality food as well. You might think this means the food is high priced but it is competitive in price with the other Mexican restaurants I've been too. Okay, the food is great but how about the service you ask? The service was really good as well. The young man we had was very attentive and professional. We sat outside on their deck which had a good ambiance and was relaxing for me. There are mature oak trees they built the deck around and some tasteful string lights to give it some warm lighting at night. Also, don't miss out on the fresh salsa bar inside that has some standard salsas but also a creamy spicy arbol which is my personal favorite. One note is that the tortilla soup doesn't have chicken unless you tell them to add it which it says on the menu but just be aware. The owner/manager (not sure which) came out to see if everyone was being taken care of and cleaned up done dishes as well. He was helpful and nice without the typical awkward stressfulness of interacting with managers at some other establishments. I know this probably seems like an ad but I just really love this place and wish I lived closer so I could come more often. If Sol Y Luna reads this, please continue with the high level of good food and good service! I want you to still be good when I come back...
Read moreWe grew up eating wonderful "Mexican" and "Spanish/Native American" foods in Colorado, New Mexico, and Texas. We moved to Western North Carolina and keep searching for such foods here. No luck - until we dined at Sol y Luna. The menu choices are hit and miss, but some items are really quite good. They offer excellent guacamole made table side. Their Barbacoa entre is excellent, approaching Carne Adovada - which we are still looking for. They only have refried beans, but we would rather have lower fat and tastier "charro" beans. Chips and bean dip are free and there is a free salsa bar. We dined in a group. Some loved their meals, but some thought their choices were very greasy. The menu is LARGE so you can find something you'll like. The service was outstanding, from being greeted on arrival to attentive table service. We will return and sample...
