What happens when the creative and culinary genius behind the Gingered Peach gets a chance to take over an ice cream shop? Lucky for you Melba is the answer. Incredible retro vibe with modern touches, this place looks amazing. But what about the ice cream? Well, it's as good as you'd expect. They are making this stuff from scratch...like starting with real organic cream and adding the same quality ingredients they use in the bakery. Luxurious chocolate, toasted walnuts, fresh peaches ...you know the vibes. The flight of ice cream is genius, and perfect to share... or eat by yourself if you're hungry but indecisive. Flavors rotate and range from classics (the BEST pistachio ice cream) to adventurous (mango sorbet with lime, and tajín) but they are all delicious. Get a scoop (or four), sit in the sun-filled seating...

Melba was the only one to get a perfect score from everybody. Having lived in big cities for my entire adult life I’ve had access to some pretty dank hipster ice cream shops. Ice cream is a big deal to me. Melba in Lawrenceville, and Bi-Rite in San Francisco are the only two that I would say are true culinary experiences, and I would recommend to anybody who is visiting the area that they go out of their way to get there. Do yourself and your family the favor and get your butt...
