I struggled internally as to whether or not I was going to write this review but I donāt want my experience to happen to anyone else. I was hired by the gingered peach and fired 4 days later. The supposed reasons for my termination were, a customer said I was rude, which I know never happened because I was far too busy trying to learn to do that and Iām by no means a rude person. Hereās where it gets really bizarre. The owner (who I almost never saw) told me after I asked her for a detailed reason for my termination that she had been observing me in a 20-30 minute period she was in the store and I looked angry while I was just putting things away and doing daily work....This woman who claims she has so much experience hiring people told me I was losing my job because of my face..... To say I was shocked to actually hear an adult say that is an understatement. She also sites that I wasnāt able to ābreak down a lineā fast enough........I worked there for FOUR DAYS. Wednesday and Friday. Iām not writing this to ruin anyoneās name but for someone to tell me that they can tell Iām a bad fit in 4 days because I didnāt have everything down is ridiculous. She claims to have ādataā that allows her to know if someone will be good enough or not this quickly from previous years of being a hiring supervisor or something along those lines which, obviously is an insane thing to actually believe. You donāt even know who I am as a person at that point. At the end of all of this I think Iām most shocked that a factor in my termination was the way my face looks when Iām concentrating. That, is unacceptable. If youāre going there for good food itās delicious but If you want to work there be prepared to be expected to know the ropes in a matter of four days or less. The owner even admitted to me that she probably just lost a good employee. Personally I think someone else wanted to come back and it was dump the new girl but who knows. Bottom line is no one can possibly be good at anything in 4 days and you absolutely donāt discriminate against peopleās faces when at rest, thatās got to be one of the most insane things Iāve ever heard ... if you read this and find yourself flabbergasted, join the club.
-There isnāt anything to go back and fourth about. Yes you spoke of that job as a possibility because you wanted someone full time when I was looking for part time. But then you chose me out of the other people who interviewed and immediately put me on the front end which I was fine with. I even asked the last day I worked if I could work the early morning shift and a weekend to get a feel for even more, you agreed happily but I never got the chance because I was fired before you could possibly know anything about me. Iām not sure how you would expect anyone to take ābut you can fold boxesā after stating my face as a reason I was terminated and telling me it would be a better fit for someone and I quote in my āconditionā referring to my anxiety that I disclosed to you I had during my interview. Iām still trying to wrap my head around the fact that someone in a manager role actually said and did the things you did. Beyond the fact that itās discrimination and totally unprofessional. It also is just plain hurtful. I strongly suggest you reevaluate how you treat potential employees. And next time you fire someone at least give them the respect to do it to their face and not ask them to āgive you a callā via email. That is the last Iām speaking of this. Very disappointing. I made this review strictly to warn other potential employees to think twice before getting involved in shockingly poor and offensive management. I wish your...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe owner and general manager of The Gingered Peach need to educate themselves about good customer service.
I love baked goods from The Gingered Peach. The reason why I'm leaving a bad review is because of unpleasant experience I had with the general manager. I'm a regular customer there who gets cinnamon buns every week with many other baked goods. I got the cinnamon bun as usual today, but unlike other days it was dry even in the center part of the bun. It was so dry that I seriously thought that it was from yesterday. So I talked to the nice guy who was at the cashier, and he offered to give me another one from the freshly baked tray. And all the sudden the general manager came and said "WHAT'S WRONG WITH IT?" with such an attacking tone. The employ reply that it tastes dry, and she said "BUT IT'S HALF EATEN!" (I'm writing what she said with capital letters because that is the tone how she talks to the customers). I explained to her that I had a first bite of outer edge and it was dry, so I took another bite of the center hoping that it will be softer, but it still was dry. Her reply was so defensive, and I told her I'm a regular customer and have cinnamon bun very often and that they were always moist and soft in the inside. Ignoring what I said, she turned away from me and started talking to the employ who offered me new cinnamon bun and told him not to do it again when I was still right in front of her. I'm not leaving a negative review about the dry cinnamon bun - maybe they over baked a little or it was from the early morning and it was dried by midday. I'm leaving a negative review because of the unpleasant attitude of the general manager and her unwillingness to listen to customers' voice.
I've seen this general manager whenever I go there, and I noticed how mean and rude she is to customers and people who work there and I always wondered "why is she so unpleasant to the customers and employees?" and I felt the same way about the owner too. Everyone else who work there are so nice and friendly. It's the owner and the general manager are the ones that leave bad taste in your mouth.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis review is specifically for my experience visiting the bakery today.
The Gingered Peach has possibly the best baked good, breads, and pastries that I have had the opportunity to enjoy in the area. The staff are friendly and seem to enjoy what they do. But, this is why I am disappointed after my experience today and conflicted about leaving this review.
I stopped at the Peach today to buy 4 bialys, 2 croissants, and a couple of sweet treats. I was helped and began telling the kind person assisting me my order. But, when they went to grab the two croissants, they were shooed away by someone helping a customer who was in line behind me. Apparently, the 5 croissants on the display were the last 5 croissants left in the bakery, and even though I was in line first and wasn't trying to take everything that remained, the person behind me received the items and I was left croissantless.
What was I supposed to do? Talk over the person helping me (who was very polite and friendly), make sure I could get my order out and "locked in" before someone behind me takes all of the croissants? Was I supposed to make a scene at the counter? The employees were just doing their jobs.
I'm conflicted writing this review. I don't want people to think negatively of this wonderful bakery. I don't want an apology, or any free stuff. But I'm still upset -- far more upset than I would have thought I'd be.
I'd like the proprietors to review their policy for when two people order the same thing at the same time. Had the people at the counter let me buy my two croissants, the person behind me would still have gotten three. Is the rule, first come - first served? I was first but got none.
I'm just...
