Acapulco Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Lawrence

Honestly it isn't often I comment negatively but we went there to celebrate my Mom's birthday. Not only was the service nearly non existent. Talking sitting and waiting and waiting and waiting for anything as simple as an order. With one to go order mentioned at the very beginning being completely ignored and not placed. My Mother's food was definitely funky and after dropping it off our waiter didn't show up again for so long we had to ask someone else's waiter to find him. Then after that he vanished again for even longer and by this point it was just ridiculous. When politely walking to the manager after waiting longer for our checks than it took for the food to be ordered, cooked, served, eaten to ask for the check the manager didn't act like she cared and shrugged it off as a busy night while understaffed. Trust me it was not very busy and if they were understaffed why were there enough waiters/waitresses that you could have a few of them just chillin talking with the manager. We don't expect high service but we expect more than having it take so much time to even talk to our waiter especially with food issues. Not to mention there was an extra drink on the bill and the meal my sister was trying to place to go for her husband who couldn't make it there was forgotten about by them until we were ready to leave and only then did they try to take the order after asking my sister to wait when she tried to order it the first time.

I don't share this to be rude but I feel like with some honest feedback you can improve these things and help support your waiters more, be it through training or sufficient staffing. The food was pretty good with a decent price, besides for my mom's food which had issues but being it was her birthday her'sshould've been done right...

It was our first time there as a family, we enjoy getting together for good Mexican food on birthdays and other occasions. I can't speak for my family but I'm not sure...

First time we went there they had karaoke. Great service and great food! Really friendly and attentive service! It was great! Next time, during the day, I went in with my daughter and got just blank stares or even the feeling that I was intruding on a meeting of some kind. Or that I was generally not welcome? When we were sat down, the girl who sat us acted put out that I requested a hybrid booth/table instead of a table...even though the restaurant was completely empty besides us (around 11am, just before their lunch customers). The lack of enthusiasm continued when I tried to interact with our waitress (who did warm up a little over time, but just barely)...but near the end of the meal the owner guy came over and was friendly, finally. I guess I don’t get the night and day sort of interaction. It really threw me off. Did someone die or had something bad happened? Had I walked in on a fight? It’s a family owned and operated business, so who knows? I just know I felt unwelcome in an establishment that was previously welcoming. The food remains just as good. I think their food is quite good, actually. I just don’t know why I got the weird interaction or cold shoulder of the two times I went in. It was like a strange, alternate reality. So, good food. Chill atmosphere. Nice lighting. Inconsistent table-side...

BAD decision. I ate there for lunch with a friend. Neither of us had tried it so we gave it a shot. SERVICE? Just bad, didn't even try. I had to track our waiter down twice, (he was at the bar talking with coworkers). If it's a busy lunch rush, I can understand, but the servers outnumbered patrons 2 to 1 and it was not busy. FOOD? You could literally get better Mexican cuisine from a gas station vending machine. Actually, that is probably an insult to the proud tradition of gas station vending machines. Although I did find their ability to remove all possible moisture and flavor at the same time commendable. By which I mean you couldn't taste the charcoal black crust on the chicken brick that they had covered in onions and an equally tasteless sauce. MEMORABLE? If you enjoy stomach cramps and wondering which end it's going to be coming from next, by all means, roll those dice! Both my friend and I got violently sick after eating there. One and done for us, hard lesson...
