Burgers By Biggs — Restaurant in Lawrence

I was treated to burger heaven hiding in plain site in Lawrence, KS. Bigg's BBQ has a burger joint, Bigg's Burgers and ohmergawd, these burgers are something ya have GOT to partake in.

I got the Jay Hog which is a 50/50 grind of bacon (yes bacon) and beef, American cheese, grilled onion, bacon topped with a bacon dijonaiise sauce which should have been enough for most. In this case, I've been to Biggs BBQ and know how righteous their pulled pork is, so of course I had to special order pulled pork on top of this glorious combo...it.was.perfect! So maybe next time I'll add pickles to the mix but it's so dang awesome as is with that smoky pulled pork. Such a great burger. This is one of those places that when somebody asks "gosh, where do you go to get a truly great burger?"...yeah this is the place ya tell them to go.

The onion rings! These are the lightly breaded homemade style that our grandma's used to make up on a summer Sat afternoon to have with grilled burgers. Delicious onion rings, one of the best imo.

Fries are very similar to places like 5 Guys, pretty sure they are fresh cut, sure have the same fresh but crunchy texture, not greasy at all and the sweet potato fries are delicious as well 😋

Oh and if you notice the menu/order counter pic, yes that is an ice cream counter as well for hand dipped shakes and sundaes 🍨 😀. ...

Myself and a friend went to this establishment after playing golf on Wednesday 5/27/20. The food was horrible. We sat down and was asked for our drink order and I got a Pepsi, the Pepsi cola tasted like seltzer water. I ordered the 2 meet dinner and went to the restroom to wash my hands when i returned the food was already on our table... too fast. Not to mention there were no customers in this place. The beef burnt ends were way over cooked and dried out, the ribs were as well. The meat had no seasoning or flavor at all. By this time they brought me another Pepsi and it was just as bad as the first one. The Potato salad tasted bad as well like it's been in a fridge for 2 months, the baked beans were extremely gritty and the flavor wasn't good. I would not recommend this place to anyone nor will i ever go here again. All the meat tasted like it's been sitting under a heat lamp for 2 days. The only thing that was ok were the french fries but they weren't even hot. Oh and the red bottle on the table isn't ketchup it's some kind of nasty sauce in a ketchup like bottle. I wish i could say something positive...

Ordered online for takeout at 11:30 to pick up at 12:15. Arrived a the restaurant at 12:17 to find that "someone hadn't put in the order" so our food hadn't even been prepared. So, had to wait another 15 minutes for food. I received a cursory "sorry" and offer of two drinks (didn't need drinks) but no offer of full or partial refund or even a credit on my next order. I had even included a 20% tip. I guess that is a good reason never to add a tip BEFORE you pick up your order.

My real dissatisfaction isn't with the initial order not being ready. Mistakes happen. But a good business offers something besides "two drinks." A week ago I had a similar experience at another restaurant in town, but only one of item of four didn't get prepared. Similarly, I had to wait about 15-20 minutes but the restaurant gave me a $25 gift certificate. I'll definitely go back and will surely spend more than $25.
