So this is a complicated review, they have relatively recently opened and so deserve a later review to see how they have progressed, that said my initial opinion of this place isn't great, while the staff was friendly they seemed lost, easily distracted and only partially listening to customers, we waited for quite some time before receiving our drinks, and several minutes before receiving our food which should have been simple and quick, they had the doors open and fans running full blast freezing everyone in there, finally closed door and slowed fans but it was quite chilly by that point, the food when it arrived looked and tasted great, the fish was a bit greasy I think they needed to drain more but considering they were trying to catch up I think it was a simple mistake of rushing things, the onion rings were fantastic, as well as the drinks we ordered, atmosphere was OK and a band was setting up, as we left, one irksome thing for me was no clearly marked prices on anything, that said I will go back to see if they do better, to be honest they've been open long enough to work bugs out, and have previous resteraunt experience so not too impressed, I feel as if they are trying too much too soon, the place has potential and with the lack of real options I feel this place if ran properly could do great and become a local favorite, but as is if they don't improve I'd wager won't last long as folks won't want to come anymore, I truly hope they get it worked out I hope they do great, the food honestly did taste good although they are very skimpy on and dipping sauce and lack of options, as some folks prefer hotsauce with fried fish, and a recommendation may be coleslaw with the fish as an option locally that's a fan favorite.

Had "fried tenderloin" to go. Had a fair flavor (had old oil taste), thick portion of meat. Is advertised as having lettuce, tomato, and onion on the side. This was also confirmed when I called in the order. Unfortunately, it was provided with everything on the sandwich. The tomatoes appeared to be ends and sliced extremely thin. The onions were diced instead of sliced, making it next to impossible to remove. With the cost of this being $13, and the previous issues mentioned, it just doesn't have the value needed to get it again.

We really enjoyed Cody Bobe’s restaurant right off the square in historic Lawrenceville! Right away we noticed the eclectic decor was warm and inviting complete with natural bricked walls and wood trim. There are lots of options on the menu and the smash burger with fried mushrooms was delicious as was the grilled cheese and fries. The fried pickles were great! The staff was friendly, responsive and I was introduced to the owner who took the time to speak with me. I highly recommend Off the Square!

The hand breaded pork tenderloin is excellent, but my wife's filet was out of this world. Get the cowboy butter with a steak.

The staff did a great job as well. We will be going back.

Update: My wife and I have been back a few times since the last review, and it has continued to be excellent. Both the bone-in ribeye and the delmonico are amazing steaks. They have been cooked perfectly and are so tender that you don't even have to put pressure on the knife to cut them. We also recommend house chips and French onion dip.

Our servers have consistently done a great job and go above and beyond. We will continue going back and recommending it to others.

Update 2: We had a worse experience compared to previous visits. It took far too long to get our drinks and they were far too underpoured. Plus, our salad came out with our food instead of before. However, our server took steps to remedy the issue and made our visit great. The steak, as always,...

We've been there twice now on consecutive evenings as of this posting, which I hope shows how much we enjoyed our first visit. The service was nice and friendly. The food was good.

The first time there, I had the tenderloin sandwich with sweet potato fries, and my wife had their basic smash burger with sweet potato fries. Both were very good. The next night, I had the smash burger that has the onion ring and bbq sauce with tater tots ( I can't remember what it's called), and my wife had the fig jam bacon burger with fries. Again, both were very good. So far, I would recommend any of these items.

The restaurant atmosphere is quaint and it is a nice establishment. Not a ton of seating, but there's enough to not be small and crowded, nor not so much you're lost in the sea. Overall, I would recommend this place for either a nice dinner date or an evening to just hang out with friends/family and grab a decent meal with your favorite...
