Came to eat here memorial Day weekend via boat. It is in the prestigious Waterford harbor/South shore harbor area. I arrived with about 12 people that are all affluent successful business people from the Clear Lake area, we arrived via a very large very expensive yacht because the restaurant had boat parking and some of the people had been here before and they were running memorial day specials. This place wants to be something fancy but it's not, it's like that pretentious greasy businessman that has no money but just happened to be wearing a fancy suit. Pretentiously overpriced- $54.95 for a steak ? Haha Anyways, upon arrival since we were such a large group we were sat at two different tables adjoining. The entire group was well-dressed no one was in bathing suits or torn shorts and all we wanted to do was ordered dinner. The waitstaff ignored us if you can call them wait staff. 3 servers on memorial Day weekend- one was overweight with her greasy hair in a bun the other one was some rude man and another one was a middle-aged housewife with an attitude. None of them fit well with the atmosphere or the image that this restaurant is trying to come across as. When you're dining at yacht club restaurant you expect the utmost professional servers because everyone that is in there obviously has money because they came by boat or they live in the area. My group of friends were treated like garbage by the staff and the management, it was disgraceful. Wait staff did not want to serve our two tables because we were quoted as"boater riff Raff" which is actually quite funny since the boat we came on probably cost more than that restaurant itself and more than anybody else's house that happened to be dining at that time. I personally was privy to the conversation of the waitstaff complaining to the owner as I was standing there in shock as these three wait staff two females and one male repeatedly told the owner that they refused to serve the table and in my mind I'm thinking if you're hired to be a server than serve ! and basically refused to serve until the owner had said fine don't serve them. In my mind if I'm a business person I'm going to tell my staff this is my restaurant not yours your job is to serve and you will serve my guests.... that was not said... the owner caved in and said fine don't serve them. I'm guessing this waitstaff probably had their first job at Walmart which is probably where they should have stayed because they are classless trash with no respect and should not be in the service industry. They clearly are so well off they do not want money as our table was very large and our ticket would have been in the thousands and the people also that were in the group are outstanding members of the community that have many friends and word of mouth is stronger than anything. So for those of you reading this review and if you read any of my other reviews you always know I either love something or hate it and I'm always very honest.... It is my advice to not waste your time in this restaurant it is overpriced, the staff are rude, they don't care about anything apparently and I imagine the food isn't very good because the one time I did eat there I got bad food poisoning for a week! In the hospitality industry service is everything this place is lacking on everything- the service, the hospitality, the food, the prices, there is no win here at all and there's no redeeming quality about this place except the location is pretty...
Read moreWe've been here 3 times now and each time has gotten worse. Unfortunately, our visit Friday will be our last.
We made reservations for 4 people at a high top by the live music for 6:30 on Friday around lunch. We called at 6:30 to let them know we'd be there in about 10 mins. We get there and the A/C is out in the main room, which they had TWO chances to tell us over the phone, but failed to mention. For the second time, we only had THREE chairs. Hostess seats us and makes ZERO attempt to get us another chair (also happened previously), and our 4th chair is being used to hold up a fan that's so obnoxiously loud and can't even blow full blast or it squeaks even louder. We have to just move stuff around ourselves, juggling chairs and electrical cords with no assistance from staff.
It took us forever to get drinks, water refills took 10+ mins, and it wasn't even a busy night.
WORST OF ALL... I had THREE pieces of actual cardboard in my meal. THREE. Supposedly the cardboard covers on the basil seasonings found their way into my meal. It wasn't our waiter's fault, yet he was the only one who apologized. They didn't even comp my meal WITH ACTUAL CARDBOARD PIECES IN IT. They gave us a free dessert, but definitely think 3 actual choking hazards in my plate (they looked like the mushrooms and I almost swallowed one) was a justified comp of a $25 meal.
If our friend wasn't the one playing music that night, we would have left immediately when they gave us no notification of the A/C being out (it was soooo hot) and still didn't accommodate our seating reservation. I'm beyond frustrated with the lack of service at this place and will not be...
Read moreThis restaurant was nasty. The waitress seated us and when I lifted my menu up to read it there was a big crusty gravy stain under it. At first I tried to ignore it but felt like I was going to lay my arm on it. Yuck! I ended up moving to the other side of the table. My husband covered it up so I would not have to see it again. This was our first visit to the restaurant (should have saw that as a red flag and left) but we wanted to give the food a try. We both ended up ordering salads. Mine was the mixed green salad with shrimp. His was the Asian salad I believe. When they set my salad down in front of me it had a funny smell:/ and it was not green. It was yellow. They served a chopped up head of lettuce. The kind of lettuce you get for .99 at HEB. There was nothing green about it. Then the dressing they put on it was yellow so that did nothing for it. I ended up just eating the grilled shrimp. When my husband asked me to try his it was NO. Same lettuce just different dressing and grilled chicken. He then asked me if I wanted to try their desserts. I said why do I want to keep disappointing myself. We left hungry and wished we would have viewed the crusty gravy stain as a red flag and left. I usually never post reviews about restaurants good or bad. But this time I felt like we...
