just can not recommend anything about this one time favorite. lousy service, poor food quality, no effort to make mother’s day special, and ambiance ruined by overcrowding the dinning room. all managed by a dude in worn jeans who clearly didn’t care
been waiting for a special occasion to go here. made reservations for Mother’s day. the host had told me that they only served dinner on mothers day because it helps ensure smooth kitchen service. so even though we picked a 2:00 meal, i was expecting a crowd. the place was never more than half full however, it was clear they had moved extra tables into the dinning room as it was nearly impossible to sit in the tight space.
service was terrible. 25 minutes after seating we had had zero help not even a menu. only a half set of silverware. i finnalt went and spoke to the manager. the less than interested man said ok and got us a new waiter.
service was still poor on the forth or 5th request for bread we finnaly got some. with frozen butter!
food: well the water (yes water) was so nasty i asked for a clean glass. the manager came out and said it was the local water but we could buy bottled water- i’ve been to this marina many times the water is fine i said no try bringing a glass that was properly cleaned. indeed clean glass water was fine - they had not properly cleaned the glasses!
we ordered lobster bisque for my mother. we told them she has serious allergy to oysters. they brought oyster gumbo!!! the bisque tasted like a can of tomato soup with cream - not edible.
the grilled oysters - smallest i have ever seen and the bacon was clearly made separately and just added. again inedible. oysters on the half shelf - garbage would be rejected at any decent seafood restaurant
mom ordered soft shell crab with hollandaise . they had maybe a teaspoon of sauce. asked for more. they sent out what tasted like runny egg yolks.
my fish was to be lemon reduction sauce. tasted more like hollandaise. so we got a side of that sauce to try and eat the crab
the ponchaltula fish was an embarrassment no sauce at all really
the fish and chips were actually ok and the best meal. as was the key lime
maybe with time they can get their act back together - perhaps less advertising and more attention to quality...
Read moreWe went here a couple of times previously and enjoyed the food, service, and atmosphere. My stepmother decided to make a reservation for all of the family to get together for Mother's Day. Our reservation was for 2pm for eight people. We had all arrived and were seated by 2:30. We ordered our food by 2:45pm. We received our food at 4:30pm.
There was a two hour wait for the food. It was ridiculous. The waitstaff was unprepared to work such a busy holiday, even the guy doing the water refills couldn't get it together. We were sitting on the second floor and it was obvious that every table up there had long time tickets for food. not only did a manager not come by our table to say anything, I never saw one go to any table.
I worked in the service industry for many years in the front and back of house. I understand that these things can happen, kitchen gets backed up, not prepared for the volume, ect, but for goodness sake there was ZERO damage control for any of this! It seemed that the owners or managers or whoever was supposed to be in charge thought that ignoring the issue was the best route. The ridiculous thing was that I had ordered a soup and salad, that was it! I was not that hungry when I arrived, however being that I am seven and a half months pregnant I was ravenous by the time any food finally arrived. My poor Grandmother, who is a slow eater, was left sitting at the table by the rest of us because we all wolfed down our food when it finally arrived. Also, the food had obviously been sitting out on the service line awhile before it arrived. Fish tacos, that my husband and brother both ordered, were dry and barely warm, my soup was reduced down to the thickness of oatmeal, I digress.
My husband and I really enjoy the original Opus location and have always had amazing service there, we were really excited for this new location, but after yesterday I can't say that we will be going back anytime...
Read moreI will first start off with the fact that me and 2 other people showed up without a reservation on Sunday night. There were open tables, and luckily the person who seemed to be the manager was right there. The hostess(?) seemed very caught off guard with the lack of reservation and the manager stepped in after a brief pause from the hostess and sat us right away which was fine. The bread that they brought out after asking for drink choices was already cold. Soft, but cold nonetheless. And this bread seemed like it was supposed to be warm, and the subsequent pieces we got were warm. The guy that waiting our table consistently didn't wait for a response from me when he asked a question and talked to me in a mildly demeaning tone. And while it can be assumed that the lobster bisque was extra, he gave the option of that or a Ceaser salad and never mentioned that it would cost extra. That was fun to find on the check. But again, I was the only person at the table that he didn't wait for a response from. I was going to say the Caeser salad but I had just taken a small bite of bread and that omitted any kind of response I could give. And throughout the night I was treated differently than the 2 people I was at the table with.
The food though was really good minus the Cherry Cheestake Chimichanga. That desert seemed to be very out of place here. We had the Shrimp Scampi, the Shrimp and Scallop Au Poivre, and the Lobster Thermidor. All of the food was great but in the service industry, service makes a...
