Please read this message to the Ledge Light health department, I suggest not eating there: To Whom it May Concern:
I implore you to please conduct an inspection of Gales Ferry McDonald’s as soon as possible, located at 1678 Connecticut 12, Gales Ferry, CT 06335. I used to visit this location on a daily basis, each day purchasing only an iced tea. However, upon visiting the restaurant on Wednesday, October 1st, 2014, I found a dead fly in my drink. I went through the drive through, and had stopped to add splenda to my beverage. I am very lucky that I took the lid off of my drink to do so, because that is when I found a dead fly floating in the tea (see attached photos). I went back through the drive through and asked for a refund. The manager had apologized several times, and pointed out that their normal tea container was broken. The restaurant was serving the sweetened tea in the normal container with a lid and sanitary plastic bag, however the unsweet tea was in a small open mouth decanter the size of a regular glass coffee pot and was sitting on the counter. The next day, I returned again hoping the issue would have been corrected, only to find they were using the same open mouthed container, and it was still simply sitting on the counter uncovered. At this point I contacted McDonald’s customer service via email. I received a response that same day from the owner/supervisor, a man named “Charlie”. He assured me that he had contacted the supervisor of that set of restaurants and that the issue would be corrected (That was Friday October 3, 2014). I did not visit the restaurant over the weekend. Today, I visited the restaurant at approx 9:15AM only to find that the issue was still not resolved. The same open mouth container, was sitting on the same counter, and there were still numerous flies flying throughout the restaurant. I assume you know the workings of flies, what they do when they land, the bacteria they can carry, etc. When speaking to Charlie, he seemed very aware of the fly issue, saying that it is was that time of year, when the amount of flies in the restaurant is “heavy". The fact that it is acceptable to him to have any "amount of flies", whether it be low or high, is quite disturbing. I ask you to please conduct an inspection of this restaurant as soon as possible. Thank you for your time and assistance with this...
Read moreWent here with my daughter to get a happy meal left my debit card at home asked the drive through worker to manual input it he looked at me like I had ten heads I asked for the manager he tells the manager “SHE DOESNT HAVE HER PHYSICAL DEBIT CARD BUT WANTS ME TO ENTER THE NUMBER WERE NOT DOING THAT” I’m very confused why he’s speaking like that at that moment he could’ve simply said to me they weren’t able to. Okay whatever I proceed to order on the mobile app I had my card numbers stored in my phone. I drive up past the speaker waiting in line. This drive thru worker screams through the speaker at the drive thru saying “ I SEE YOU WHATS YOUR MOBILE ORDER NUMBER WHAT ARE YOU DOING IM WATCHING YOU ON THE CAMERA” I look back confused I’m like what I look at the guy in the car that was currently ordering at the speaker like is he talking to me?? Mind you I’m already past the speaker. I tell the other customer just order I’m not speaking to him. I pull up to the drive thru window to get my food and this worker is sticking his head out of the window pointing at me and discussing my situation with another customer. I’m already speaking with another worker and receiving my food at this point . it was the WORST customer service I have ever experienced in my life. This drive through worked was pointing at my car out the window sticking his head out of the drive thru window. I look back and see it in my rear view I proceed to say do you need something?? How awful and embarrassing. like he has one job take orders. no one wants to get out of work after working all damn day and getting their kids from school to deal with an incompetent rude worker telling customers another customers business as I was simply ordering food on the mobile app after being pushed away when I was trying to manually input my card numbers. Wasn’t a big deal ordered on the mobile app it’s the fact this worker screamed through the speaker when I wasn’t even at the speaker and got another customer involved. Should NOT be in any customer service...

For a location that gets so much traffic, you would think that the corporate overlords might actually put some effort into this franchise.
If you manage to ford the pond that seems to always exist in the parking lot outside to head indoors because the drive thru either is super backed up or messes up your order too frequently, pray that you've brought your hip waders so you can navigate the stream flowing from the drink machine in front of the counter - don't worry, they put up a wet floor sign which is almost as good as actually trying to clean it up or fix the leak (and this is based on multiple visits over several months, not a one time incident). Customer service? Technically, you will get it as in you pay them money and they give you food. Whether or not it's what you ordered is up to Grimace, the Hamburglar, and whatever other clowns run this place. If there's a promotion going on, this franchise will not have the items available but will certainly advertise them and act like you're the crazy person for thinking that's weird.
Go anywhere else. There are other fast food options 10 minutes to the south on the same road. There's great local restaurants nearby. Consider being vegan. Just avoid...
