Yoko Loko Eatery — Restaurant in Ledyard

Since we live in the Gales Ferry village we wanted to support local businesses and this restaurant has Street Style Tacos and Filipino Hibachi. Limited menu up on the board, you queue up, place your order and they call out your name when ready. We ate outside on a covered picnic table as the sun was beginning to set, situated right next to their food truck that started this whole enterprise. Inside looks nice, clean, modern with about 8 booth tables. The tacos were, as expected for street tacos, small but flavorful with the salsas and they come with grilled jalapenos and onions with several different meat selections. The fish tacos were not even warm and unfortunately breaded and fried instead of simply being grilled and had an odd fishy taste that did not appeal to me at all. My sweetie had the trio Hibachi plate with beef, chicken and two shrimp in a bland uninspired sauce and served with 2 small COLD lumpias plus lots of white rice on the side. This menu kinda reminded me of the Hawaiian Plate lunches but in Hawaii they always serve mayonnaise macaroni salad and the glazed sauce on the grilled meats are gooey, sticky and sweet tasting, a much more appetizing combination. Along with two cans of $2.50 soda, brought this meal to total of $30 bucks.....a rather pricey meal for two for just OK food that was fishy, cold and for the most...

As somebody who rates tons of places, I can't say enough good things about this place and their food. Tacos to me are top notch and very delicious. The contents are more than generous and also includes some extra drizzling sauces. Chips and a somewhat spicy salsa on the side all included. The prices are absolutely more than fair for the quality of food delivered. One person could feel almost over full on three tacos and the chips and still be under $10, ridiculous for today's time and very much appreciated. I have only eaten the tacos many many times cause it just hits right for me, even though I definitely should try some of the other items. I should also upload some photos cause they look delicious in person as well. My personal favorite is the Mexi Sexy Taco with Buffalo Chicken And Signature Blend Sauce. Love this restaurant, it is my new favorite. Everything I've gotten has been fantastic. I get 3 loco fish tacos everytime I go. Delicious, beautiful, and gourmet. Better than gourmet. The lumpia is fantastic, the corn in the cup is fantastic. The pancit is fantastic. The shrimp and scallion plate on rice, that comes with 2 lumpia, and cucumber salad is fantastic. Fried pork bellies are fantastic, along with the cheese steak fries. The hibachi sauces they use are delicious. The guy who takes your order is very nice, as is the guy who brings you the food. Very professional and personable. It's a cute and very clean place to eat in, though I get it as takeout. I order once I get there and sit in a waiting area, and it's never a long wait, and the place is usually crowded. I'm a super fussy, and picky eater, and this place satisfies.
