Read moreMy friends and I happened upon Rose’s by chance on the way to Salem. We needed to stop for lunch and randomly picked this spot because it was 4 min away from where we were on the highway. We had no clue what we were walking into… we were pleasantly surprised! They took us as a walk in party of 8 and accommodated us immediately. The aesthetic while monochromatic was so pleasing as there were so many textures, from the circular accent tile on the wall to the amazing stone floor down to the smallest details like the moss artwork and the antique salt and pepper shakers, we were impressed to say the least right off the bat. The menu was perfectly sized and each item was described with intention. The staff was beyond attentive and friendly, truly catered to all the guests in the dining room. The chef came to the table with a sample of their in house sausage, bacon, croissants and homemade busicuts to nibble on while we read through the menus. Everything was superbly delicious. The coffee was fresh ground by the cup and automatically pleasing. So much care was taken into plating of the food, defiantly worthy of taking pics for the Gram. The silence at the table while we were eating said it all!...

Our food was excellent and the coffee was great. They have some things on the menu that you don't just see anywhere. The homemade scallion biscuits, for example, were fantastic! (Shout out to the man who gets there early every morning to make those.)
On the downside, service was very, very slow on Sunday, September 29th. We had to wait about 15 minutes to be seated, even though there were quite a few empty tables when we got there. I'm going to assume they were short-staffed. We also waited a long time for somebody to even come to our table and take an order. And once they got our beverage request (coffee and water) we again waited much too long.
Service at our table seems to be pieced together; we experienced at least four different people come to our table while we were there.
I'll save the staff was relatively friendly, so I'll give them that.
If I lived in the area, I would probably go back and give them a second chance. If for no other reason, just to have those...
