#31 on the Worcester Pizza Quest (well this one is technically in Leicester but it's close to my house)
Yes I know I am reviewing the Pizza joints in Worcester but this is just outside of the city and close to where I live. After driving by the place a few times I noticed Zuzu's Pizza opened. I gave them a call because I did not feel like traveling far for pizza.
When the call was made a very friendly and happy man answered and took my order. The first impression of Zuzu's was a pleasant one. The restaurant is easy to access since I already knew where it was. The building is a simple white shop and could easily be missed. The outside is clean but a bit old. Before entering a person would expect the typical run down unclean interior. Well this is one of those times where that person would assume incorrectly. You enter a bright clean roomy area, the place smelled wonderful. The person at the counter was happy even excited to see me. This added to a pleasant experience buying from Zuzu's Pizza.
The pizza entered my home and was ready to eat. I ordered a large cheese and a small pepperoni, off came the lid of the large cheese. I was surprised at what I saw. A thin crust pizza! I rubbed my eyes unsure of what I saw. Yup a thin crust pizza not a Greek style. (I think I might have danced a bit in the kitchen). The first bite gave a pleasant sauce and the correct about amount of cheese. When taking that bit you learn it isn't a true thin crust it had a bit of thickness to it. The best way to explain the crust is it's a cross between thin and Greek crust pizza. It was a good pizza. Compared to most of the pizza shops in the quest Zuzu's is in the top 5 so far. I rated the place a 4 at this time because I lean more toward the thin style pizzas so I can't say it's a perfect pizza. I would recommend anyone who lives in Leicester or in the Worcester Webster Square area to drive to Zuzu's. Because so far no other pizza place in the neighborhood makes a better pizza. Maybe after reviewing a few more places it might make it to the 5 stars. Thank you Zuzu's for...
Read moreReally poor experience. Called in a large team order more than a day in advance for pick-up. Went to pick it up at designated time and food had not even been started. Waited 45 minutes for it to be ready. Gave the place the benefit of the doubt because it was a large order...maybe they had been busy that day (even though place was empty). One of the meals was missing, which again - fine! It was a large order, mistakes are made! What really set me off was that when I went in to let them know a meal was missing, the manager argued with me and told me to go check again because they made everything that was called in. IF YOU ARE RUNNING A BUSINESS, THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT and it is SO UNPROFESSIONAL to ARUGE with the customer and tell them they are wrong. After placing such a large order, paying for it, and being patient for the food to be made (even though the order was placed well in advance), the least that could have been done was to make the god damn salad that was missing. I would have even paid for it. Was so frustrated, I walked out and one team member did not get to eat. Also, if you order chicken fingers, prepare for them not to be breaded. If you get a caesar wrap, prepare for it to be just lettuce and chicken (no cheese, no dressing). Actually, just prepare for the food to be...
Read moreOkay, I know some of this is probably on me, but... I ordered a delicious looking dinner online to give this place a try for the first time. Totally excited... Then the online order interface counts down and say that my order was "missed" ... But I was charged. I did read the writing that said I was charged, but I was also drawn to the big friendly button that said "TRY AGAIN," which I did. That second order was also rejected.
Now, my account has been charged $80, and I don't know when it will be credited back to me. I tried calling the store many times, and each time I got the message that "The mailbox is full and cannot take new messages at this time." This was ridiculously frustrating - I wish the online interface could be configured to confirm the order FIRST before making a charge. And I'm sorry, but shame on me for hitting that big "TRY AGAIN" button, but shame on them for putting it there.
I hope I get my $80 (two tries worth) back soon. Still hungry for pizza.
Review edit: It's been a few days and I still don't have my money returned. Tried calling and did get through, but I was unable to understand the person on the line...
