Perkz Cafe — Restaurant in Lenoir

I offer the above equation to explain that I have visited Perkz twice and had two different dining experiences. The first time I had a burger and it was very bland. In addition, the fries were also cold and tasteless. Unless you count the taste of old freezer.

So why go back?

Before I left, I asked if I could sample the bbq, and my server indulged me. I detected real potential, so I returned a couple of weeks later and had a bbq plate. It was delicious! IT ACTUALLY HAD SMOKE! In addition, it was tender and juicy. One of the better bbqs I’ve had. The baked beans were good, and the hushpuppies had an excellent flavor (but were undercooked). The cole slaw was average. Service was slow, but that is not always a bad thing.

A 4 and a 2. That’s a 3.

So if you’re in Lenoir and want a burger, go to Carolina Burger. If you go to Perkz, stick with the bbq.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Curtis and his staff at perkz restaurant and catering in Lenoir. My name is Jo Patterson Christopher. This place is amazing, the food is awesome and so is the service. We used Perkz catering for our Sept. family reunion. We picked the food up, because we had to travel to charllotte, for our event. There was so much food, it was well packaged, hot, and ready for our road trip. When we got to charlotte and removed the sturdy giant trays from the "hot box" the food was steaming. Everybody at this restaurant was extremely courteous; not just the employees, but the customers too. A very relaxed atmosphere. Kinda homey with a retro local feel. They had a working arcade machine and jukebox. I had a BLT with the largest slice of tomato I've ever gotten on a sandwich, a hotdog that was grilled, and while I usually prefer boiled hotdogs, this one was great. I also had onion rings with ranch dressing. The rings were panko crusted and done perfectly, but the ranch dressing overshadowed them. A small thing that I absolutely loved was the food wrapping paper. I got my order to go and the food wrapping looked like newspaper, so much that had to take a moment looking it over to be sure that it wasn't actually newspaper. I'll be back to try...
